Just finished watching you fit the brackets for the transmission or radiator fans on the Tan truck using a rivet nut gun! Now i'm a few £££'s lighter as i had to get one from ebay!! Love the video's keep em cummins

@happywombatproducts If the parts get wet and stay wet for a little while they will rust. It is 102 deg down here so the parts will not hold moisture & I put the parts inside.

@WarWolfAngel001 It is not bad for a diesel it is just unburnt fuel. NOS or Propane will clean it up and give you that extra power out of the unburn fuel. With unburn fuel the EGT just get a little higher thats all.

@happywombatproducts I am sure that you are correct. I use a acid wash before painting the parts so touching the parts dont really matter if you acid wash the parts before paint.

@TheDieselStop thanks pal! i was going to argue with you...but then i googled it. but, like i thought, it is the other way around...on gas engines! richer mixtures lower their egt and cht. lean is mean, but it raises egt's. didn't know that about the diesels, tho. thanks for the quick response.

@2LateIWon That will work on the compressor go to ebay and buy a BadBoy Blaster I think my blaster was 400 to 500 I cant recall. I will be back up there to Weatherford in 2 weeks or so that would be the chance to shake hands.

@dawg1157 Yep I did use a breaker and socket on the main caps. The machine shop will be putting the rods and pistions back into the motor. I am not sure if they will use Plastigauge. The machine shop will be getting video of the reassembley of the rods and crankshaft and some of the machine work. I will find out when I get the motor back.

Did you just use a breaker bar and a socket to get those crankshaft cap bolts loose, exactly like how you remove head bolts and rocker arm bolts? If you have to remove the connecting rods from the crankshaft for disassembly, will it have to Plastigauged back to specs when it gets reassembled?

@WarWolfAngel001 Well there gets to a point to where you can over fuel a diesel and melt it down but it does not happen to much. If you push your EGT at a high temp for to long and have a stock diesel with alot of fuel and programer, stock pipe, not having a ERG delete kit, stock turbo, plus over size injectors you will get melt down. @ that rate pushing high EGT is not good. In my case I will upgrade to a bigger turbo, biggerdown pipe,bigger intercooler, 435 hp injectors No ERG at all,

I would install a 3 piece performance exhaust manifold on that motor because stock manifolds will crack.

@WarWolfAngel001 engine if you think about it. yes, one is a diesel, one is a gas. but, that 300 doesn't use a timing chain, it uses only gears. then I see the firing order which is the same for all inline 6s. plus, cummins like low torque curve right? if so, so does the 300. basically, they act like the same kind of motor. sure, my 300 makes like 275 pounds of torque at 2000rpm. that cummins has that thing by the hair but its a smaller engine and its not diesel. for what that 300 acts like

@trx500fm1 It is the other way around. Unburnt fuel will give you higher EGT's and getting it lean will lower the EGT's. Diesels are a fun game to play. Thats why guys will NOS or Propane a diesel to help burn the unburnt fuel making horsepower out of the extra fuel going out the pipe and lower EGT's. @TheDieselStop I see. I know exactly what you're talking about. I don't own a cummins, or any diesel for that matter. I'm learning from them though. but as for a vehicle with a straight six, I think my 4.9L 300 straight six is good enough. Idk, I like it. but I think you're doing a great job man. and thank you for letting me know. this is gonna sound bad and people will hate me but I think of the 4.9L straight six as a cummins gas engine. in a lot of characteristics, they're kinda the same

@TinManKustoms If this was the back betty project it would get that 24 valve cummins BUT this motor is for the tan truck project. AFTER I get this truck done I will build the Black Betty truck. This truck is going to be painted in satin black and the black betty will be painted in gloss black.

It's best to do it right. I'm surprised the bearings looked so bad when the engine sounded so good. Good thing you caught it now rather than later.

@floppycock9 That all depends on how good it runs, how the service has been done on it, what kind of life has the motor had, The Cummins is known as the million mile motor. If it has had dirty oil for a long time you will be doing the same thing I am doing to this cummins. One thing you could do is have a oil sample done on it to find out if anything is wearing in it. With Amsoil you just change filters and send samples off then they tell you when to change it or what the findins are in the oil

@TheDieselStop yeah got a story for you lol last night i ran into a guy selling a dodge cummins 4 sale some guy in scottsdale rich area around here and i guess he didnt know the value of a cummins with 151k it was the club cab long bed and wanted 2k for it he sold it with in 5 hours of posting i emailed him saying ill buy it went to bed woke up at 7am and he said it was gone lol only had a few coffee stains and dented tailgate who ever got that made out like a bandit

Is that elbow stickin out the side of the water inlet a temp sensor of some sort? Looks like a blocky 90degree elbow thredded in the side of the tube. By the way, if that oil pan was so beat up like that, will that mean fabrication of a skid-plate of some sort to protect the new oil pan?
