The ship looks lovely and your waiter and the food look great. I wonder if the maitre d' was expecting a generous tip before giving you a more reasonable table? The lack of service from the dining roomstaff (not the waiter) was very off-putting. Another GREAT vlog.

Love the G&T in the can to get in the cruise mood.The wine in the stateroom fridge comment made me laugh so much🤣I share your frustrations when you wanted to change your dinning time.Glad it worked out and I did notice the friendly waiter handing out the bread. Our first 5 or 6 cruises were with Cunard in the Caribbean and Alaska. Our schedules didn't fit with them after that and we started doing Princess. When we were in Aruba two weeks ago on Oceania, we saw both Queen Victoria and Queen Mar 2, lovely ships. The Queen Elizabeth looks wonderful. Sorry about your first night reservation problems, I would think that reception should be able to help if the app was not working. Glad you were able to sort out. I think that lines should bend over backwards on embarkation day to help passengers since everything is new and there are bound to be issues to sort out. Cunard seems to be an exception to this approach, unfortunately. My other cruises this year were with Celebrity twice and just off of Oceania and the service with both was absolutely amazing, without exception.

Exactly you would expect someone to be present face to face in the first day and at least the buffet open for those with late embarkation. Thankfully that was the only issue we had and then the service we recieved was spectacular! Thanks again for taking the time to watch! 😍

Yes, Paul & Carole, that spot in front of the Ocean Terminal. I took a photo of my 3 stuffed female dogs on top my luggage peeping through Britannia on the other side of the wall. If only Virgin’s deck signs were as clear as QE’s I’m anxious about. June & Lucy love to travel, or rather, cruise.

I have been on Q E 3 times and the buffet is on deck 9 and as soon as we get into the cabin we go upto deck 9 for something to eat before unpacking.... dont why you couldnt change your meal time Did you go to the Purser desk ? I prefure Cunard as Q. E . Is lovely

Our embarkation time was 1515 by the time we got to the buffet at 4 it was closed. We were told no food until at least 6pm by the staff we spoke to. Still it was only a blip we had a fabulous time from then on!

This looks like a lovely cruise. I have not cruised Cunard but I thought about it and I also, thought it would be more posh with string quartets and everybody in gowns and tuxedos lol celebrity cruise ships which I cruise a lot on also does chocolates on the pillows at turn it down.

Hello Carole & Paul. great to see you back! Fingers crossed I will be on my 1st Cunard cruise in October. I say fingers crossed as my 85 year old mum has been diagnosed with cancer and it has kind of put many plans on hold. But like you my cruise is for just 4 nights to Amsterdam, so if she's OK I think 4 nights away will be OK, any longer and I would be having 2nd thoughts. TBH I can't wait. It's been a long 2 years although I was on Sky Princess for the cruise before yours which gave me a small break. Nice surprise to see the bar supervisor, Karen on board as she kept this lonely cruiser's glass filled on Sea Princess a few years back, and she remembered me! Hoping to organise a pub crawl around the red light district for the poshies haha. Your video was an eye opener for me, like you I was kind of expecting piano & string quartets too. My cabin is a solo just across from the pub so not too far to crawl back to. Looking forward to the rest of the vlogs, stay safe and thanks for sharing cruise with us x

Great video and interesting to see how Covid has impacted on what I have always found to be incredible service on Cunard, so disappointed for you about your first impressions and frostiness of staff but as always you focus on the positive and things turned out well. We went to Alaska on Queen Elizabeth and have sailed on all the Queens. I paid £23 for my gin and tonic at The Savoy on Sunday and £11.50 at the theatre yesterday for my large Malborough so I don't think the prices are too bad for the setting. Looking forward to the next vlog!

Thanks Vik. Regarding dining ours was early sitting at 6pm. Then on our next cruise we ate mostly in the buffet when we wanted to as the selection there was superb and liked the flexibility so we could see the entertainment. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series! 😀

What we discovered is book a 6pm allocated slot, means same table/waiters every night. You don't have to use it and they release it for others later if you don't fancy going one night (you dont' even NEED to tell them). If you need to dine later, or just fancy buffet, arrange in morning or on previous day with Maitre'D (ie, you can go later if you ask). We just ended up going to buffet when fancying it, like any cruise. The issue is more if you book the "after 7:45" slot as then you can't guarantee when you eat, as you need to go randomly every night and get random waiters, like at Lunch/Breakfast which is far less fun!. It's "almost" anytime dining if you do above, and they will accomodate you for later dining whenever you want (at moment at least when below full capacity). Only thing to bear in mind you only guaranteed "early" dining if you book the "Cunard" fare, where if you book "saver" you may not get it if you are "late" booking.

Have you cruised with Cunard, what were your first impressions?

We were on with you on 13th December, 2nd cruise like you with Cunard, we booked 2 more onboard -> we liked it that much. The relaxed atmosphere where you can do as much or little as you want, and fact there was live music in every bar every hour of every night was super nice for us. We're on the Hamburg QM2 cruise with Emma I think next month, and the Christmas QM2 crossing -> as we want to try both a longer and shorter cruise on QM2 to compared to it. The Feb cruise is VERY cheap btw at moment for Cunard, we couldn't resist the on-board offers. (QM2 at Christmas booking onboard they offered us $450pp credit, which pretty much will pay our drinks bill on a 21 day sailing, and same price as buying online/via an agent with considerably less credit).

I wish I could love Cunard, as I’ve so wanted to. But the dining sends me to absolute despair. And I’ve done four with them now. Every time we are forced to go at the most unsocial times, sharing with nightmare people and zero assistance from the Maitre D’. It’s a complete deal breaker for me.

Top deck is open to all. Grills have their own space across the deck port to starboard.

Yes we did learn that later about room service later. The Lido was unfortunately closed when we went there too.
