17:04 - the heart of the matter. The Democratic Party under Bill Clinton and Barack Obama became the Republican, Jr. Party.

Last week's DNC meeting when Bernie and Ellison supporters were purged from the executive committee demonstrates how Dems are absolutely committed to throwing their populist base under the bus while they appeal to "moderate" Republican voters. Maybe they don't care if they lose, as long as they get large campaign contributions so that they and their consultants can party until the nation/empire implodes like the USSR did. I truly hate the leadership of the Dem Party and will even work for Trump's re-election to defeat another Dem corporatist candidate like Kamela Harris in 2020.

Thanks. It seemed to me that some who voted for Donald Trump did so just to say, "So, there," to Hillary Clinton and her arrogant, corporate Democrat platform.

“Where do you see hope to rescue…that embodiment of the FDR legacy?” “I do have hope that they can change, but you should remember that the attitude of the mainstream Democratic Party right now is that they did nothing wrong.” Well damn. It’s been 4 years since this video got posted and look how little has changed. We’re fucked.

There is no progressivism in mainstream, two-party politics. Both major parties are right of moderate. People need to stop bickering over petty disputes (inflamed by the corporate mainstream media), show some courage, and unite to put their collective strength behind a healthy third-party movement. It will take some time to grow, but we need to start somewhere. Nothing else will get accomplished until we put the fear of the common people into the 1% of the 1% that controls the narrative right now. They have the money, but we still have the numbers.

> This is a fantasy. Republicans AND Democrats are easily taken over by a political movement that actually has legs and support in the electorate. That has happened over and over again --with Trump the most recent example. It's far easier for that kind of political movement to take over a major party and WIN than screw around with all the burdens of being a third party, which includes having a major party steal your best issues.

This is also why the campaign system is so locked up tight and close with money ... there is barely a human element in it, and not only that but it is anonymous too.

Thomas Frank's main argument is a very sugarcoated way of saying that the Democratic Party has pussified itself on economic issues that plagues the working man but instead the party has become very aggressive on social issues to make up for its deficit. The economic issues are left largely to the whims of the elite or at their discretion regarding government policy. 25:00, the Republican Party has been winning since the 1980's as Thomas Frank said due to a weak, inept, and elitist Democratic Party.

In as much both parties are run by corporatists, no matter which party working people vote in, they are voting against their own interests. This is why outliers like Trump and Sanders are doing so well.

What I want to know is why Thomas Frank's best book in my opinion, "The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule" is so blithely skipped over and never mentioned. That book deconstructs the whole Republican party, and their backing by Libertarians and those who are determined to make government fail, by force, in order to substitute rule by corporations and what amount to oligarchs.

I'd really like to hear your comments on the United States and its ongoing gun violence, mass shootings, and the police murdering of unarmed blacks. 1. Looking at the last baby-faced 19 yr old who murdered 8 people in cold blood at a FedEx work place, I'm convinced America has a HUGE Mother Complex. "Mommy loves me more than you," rage and jealousy. How can a Mommy's Boy grow up to be a good husband and functional Father?? 2. The police... each with unhappy faces ...as if they'd never done anything they'd really wanted to in their lives, eager to kill someone who might be having more fun than what Mommy said the could. 3. Of course you have to add in our form of Capitalism, that says if you have $5, then that's $5 that should be in my pocket... and that smile should be on my face rather than yours.." 4. And I'm convinced that Racism is now a mental illness... a Personality Disorder at the least... (was it Adler, Freud, or James Hillman who said, "If I spend more time being against my neighbor than trying to get along with him, then I have a Personality Disorder"? 6. And we're seeing the results of generations told not to speak to strangers (... they're simply too special!) 7. And technology... bonded with phones and computer screens rather than other people... Comments on the Mommy-fied Americans?

Nice talk. The question, Mr. Frank, is whether the Democratic Party is more or less likely to revert to its blue collar roots than the Republican Party is to change its platform. In this respect, your Republican Derangement Syndrome is possibly obstructive. Personally, I see zero possibility of shaming the Democrat PMCs into changing their stripes.

I Want to know why you shut off comment sections on other videos, especially if your saying Trump is the enemy of the media. If free speech is under attack, why do you appear to be the attacker? Since most of your guests views are not challenged by you but promoted by you. Your distortions can't be challenge and we cannot find acceptable reality. You come across as pseudo intellectual, faking your way through tired axioms and stereotypes. Find a new job, would be my advice.
