In retrospect it wasn't the best idea but could you do better with the same resources and the same lack of information on the virus. No one was ready or prepared for this pandemic. But that's not totally true, we had plans and a team in place to prepare for pandemics but Trump fired them in 2017 because Obama set the whole program up.

@Zero Cool except he didn't respond, he didn't react, he didn't do anything but play it down. At the time we had a severe shortage of ppe, Cuomo moved older patients from the hospitals to nursing homes to control the spread to them, he couldn't enforced a major rework of the nursing homes to redistribute healthy individuals together but I doubt that would have gone well. Testing was still at its infancy and took weeks but did as many as they could. Cuomo doesn't have the federal governments capabilities and being a Democrat didn't help in getting proper aid from the federal government. At the end of the day I'd trust Cuomo over Trump/Pence with regards to handling this pandemic.

The flu, all of them, have definitely killed so many more people but they've also been around hundreds of times longer than this virus, which the first case was last November. The flu kills 12,000 - 61,000 per year here in the us, according to the CDC. We have a vaccine for the flu and it still kills that many people a year. We're at over 200,000 with covid and not a vaccine in site that's ready for public distribution, let alone the fact that phase three testing for the current vaccines will be cut extremely short from a few years down to a few months so we won't even fully know what all potential side affects could be.

I was on that steroid when I had a brain tumour. It is the worst!! You get severe headaches, you can't sleep, your vision is foggy, you blow up like a balloon and you are very fatigued, It is terrible stuff. I took it for over 2 years so I DO know what I'm talking about. It did shrink my tumour so it does have good qualities. I'm sure he won't be on it long.
