You get to skip an entire phase, so that's something. I can confirm that it's still possible to S-rank the fight if you go the secret route, as I just did it myself. Highly recommend you use Smoke Bomb, Peashooter/Charge Shot, and Chaser.

Root Pack: Don't shoot the onion. Just wait until he goes back into the hole. This will skip Phase 2 and go straight to Phase 3 but an onion will spawn for that phase on the ground and try to spin into you. Genie: Be in Mini form when he uses his mind powers to clone you and a mini version of yourself will spawn skipping the phase. It will still try to kill you though. Sally Stageplay: Don't shoot Sally during Phase 1 and instead use the hearts to get on the flying babies holding up the chandelier. Once you land on both the chandelier will fall and kill the husband skipping Phase 1 but Phase 2 will take place at a nunnery where the nuns will throw rulers directly at you. But that's not all. During Phase 3 the husband will show up as an angel and summon fireballs to try and kill you and during Phase 4 he won't be in the background at the end of the fight.
