When your country consist of 700 subtribes, this is what happened, many traditional customes and dances. And Indonesia is known as the ring of fire for its volcanoes that spread across the country. Those volcanoes are represented in the dance with fires.

Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. They have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Games are recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games. The opening ceremony was opened with a ratoeh jaroe dance to greet the invited guests in attendance, involving 1600 girls from 18 Jakarta High Schools. This dance originated in Aceh, a province in Indonesia on the west end, located on the island of Sumatra. this opening ceremony has 5 segments. 1. Water theater from the Majapahit kingdom in 1293 to 1500, "Gajah Mada" which unites islands with water. And this also symbolizes the greatness of Indonesia as a maritime country. This segment closed by raisa with "zamrud khatulistiwa" song. 2. Earth symbolizing natural wealth and diversity of tribes in Indonesia. here displays 19 traditional dances and regional song from several ethnic groups in Indonesia. 3. Air describes the ancestral strength and nationalism of the Indonesian people. So, this segment is not in the highlight footage that you watch. 4. Fire describes the spirit and courage of the Indonesian people. In addition, this segment is also a portrayal of victory as well as the opening of the 2018 Asian Games. Here is fire dance combined with kecak dance from bali. 5. Energy describes the strength and diversity of young people as Asian spirit and energy. Here is enlivened by futuristic dance, ballet, hip hop, parkour, contemporary cube accompanied by the official song "Bright as the sun"

that’s the highlight performances from the opening ceremony. the whole ceremony took around 2/3 hours, and many more amazing performances than you saw from the highlight video. since ‘cuplikan’ means ‘highlights’.

How many are they? They are 1500 middle and high schooler. It took more than 4months for them to practice that opening dance (Ratoh Jaroe). And...it's not magic while they're dancing. It the costume design. Amazing isn't it. How I know? Cause one of my niece is one of the dancers #ProudAunty

the original video is actually compilation of parts from the opening ceremony. maybe that's why you feel confused. it's much more spectacular if you watch the full video. unfortunately I have not found a decent full video. been searching for it too because I missed the live show

The name of the dance is ratoh jaroe and the song is called bungong jeumpa (cempaka flowers) from Aceh It's just a high light not complete video.. The traditional song parade from Aceh until Papua is the best part for me

The short film of the president on the bike was shown on a big screen at the stadium (the film was shot before the event), and when he arrived it was still a stuntman, then he went down to the basement (shown on the big screen again and shot before the event), and then the real president showed up in the stadium and announced. It was such a great arrival. And he is a great president, btw :) (he also loves riding motorbikes, that's why the intro was made like that, using a stuntman for the crazy stunts off course). There are 1500 dancer and i am one of them. the traditional dance called Ratoeh Jaroe (pronounce "ratuh jaro") from Aceh, Indonesia. we wear 5 layered costume there are grey, orange, purple, red and blue so we can change the color, fyi. Thank you for your reaction video😊
