9-12 months is a more fearful period for dogs that they grow out of & may be a factor w/the reactions & barking. He’s way beyond that now. Love Bernese Mtn Dogs. Beautiful puppy!

I just got my berner! I love all the advice you gave. My boy is 2mos old and the potty training phase is killing me D: not going to let him play out there anymore until he associates it with potty!

Our trainer told us to not let our puppy do anything we wouldn’t want a 85 lb golden to do. Such good advice! I loved this video! I want a berner to be best buds with our golden! we are trying to find good breeders but it’s hard to do! Thank you for advocating for this.

So glad I found this video Jordy! I have an almost 7 month BMD and we have been battling the runs for the last 3 weeks.... he was on Royal Canin giant breed puppy but I didn't like all the fillers. I switched him gradually to Fromm grain free large puppy...great ingredients but with chicken...switched him to Fromm with grains and chicken large puppy and still not good...tried the plain white rice and chicken and that didn't go well either! .... the vet gave me Hills canned prescription with pork which worked great but I can't get this in Canada (plus I would rather him on hard kibble)... He's on Nutram large puppy breed but still with chicken and still very soft runny ones...so.... I think the chicken is the culprit.... thanks for being obsessed and finding the diamond naturals.... I am going to contact my pet food gal and ask her if they carry this or if she can get some in.... the good thing is he still has lots of energy and gobbles his food so he is definitely hungry.,,, i also have the fortiflora but haven't added it again hoping the runs would be gone first...will start that back again too.... again... thanks so much for this video!

I think most all go through the runs as a puppy with Berners, we did. I am not a big Hill Science diet fan as a general food, but when our berner Rollo was a pup, the vet prescribed Hills Biome formula. It is prescription but really helped firm his stools till we found the right food for him. Also, with our other older bernese, if his stools get soft sometimes, I give him some Slippery Elm capsules broken open and mixed in his wet food, it really helps and stools are firmer after just a day or two. Don't forget to give a good daily probiotic every single day. Four Leaf Rover has a wonderful line of good quality dog supplements, check them out!

might sound dumb but when i was little a lab jumped on my back and to me, it seemed like he was aggressive. he knocked me over and was stomping on me but then again i was very little so i don’t know. but nonetheless it made me petrified of dogs. now years later i’m still kind scared but imo not as bad. i’m thinking about getting a berner puppy. but i can see myself being scared if it starts really really barking at me or growling. do u think this would be a good option or should i just wait until if i’m ever over the fear
@Moosenartbyrileygray Жыл бұрын
It may be your best way to get over your fear! Train them when they are puppies the best you can and it will set your dog up for life. I have a 2 month old berner golden cross and he’s a handful but is so sweet. Very treat driven and love to please their owners 😊 if yours jumps then teach him “off” and reward them with a treat each time!

My male Rottweiler will be 1 in June and has always eaten good and for some reason this month he’s decided to be picky about his food. Lol must be a 1 year old thing! I’ve thought about adding salmon or herring oil but I’ve read it can cause gas...I thought I saw you give him some from Zesty Paws in a vlog, if you did, how was your experience?
@cupofjordy3 жыл бұрын
omg it must be!!! that makes me feel better to hear actually hahah!! so thank you! and yes i actually did use Zesty paws!! i love it and noticed his fur was really shiny and smooth-- i spilled it all on accident and still need to replace it 🤪 but definitely recommend!!

Hey there, I loved you video thanks for all the info ... so good. I'm considering getting a berner or bernedoodle. The doodle appeals to me due to the reduced shedding and drooling but I dont love how they look as adults so I'm really torn btw the two, so thanks for talking about the shedding.... could you comment on the drooling aspect of your pup? Is it significant?
@edgywhitefriend2 жыл бұрын
The drooling can really go one way or the other. I would encourage you to stick with a pure-bred, well bred dog! Doodles are cute but the "low shedding" is usually somewhat of a scam, as mixed breed dogs are unpredictable and more often than not you get a dog that sheds. Bernese are pretty hairy, especially in shedding seasons, but it's very manageable compared to some other breeds! Not to mention the structural issues that come with mixing two breeds with vastly different bone structures. Please note that no reputable BMD or poodle breeder will allow their stock to go to doodle breeders. The quality of the parents directly translates to the puppies, and when you mix two breeds you're not necessarily getting the best of both worlds. There's plenty of doodles in shelters who need a loving home!

#CupOfJordy I love your dog 💕🐶 I just discovered your channel today. Been watching for the last 2 hours🤗. What state do you live in? I heard warm climate is not good for the BMD... Is this true? I'm moving to Florida in the near future. I want SOOOO much to get a BMD, but would not if the warm climate is not safe for them. Help!! Thank you 💕👍🏻

Hi! Aw thank you so much for watching!! i live in michigan so all seasons but we have been getting some hotter summers and Felix doesn't love it at all but i've also heard many people who have berners in warmer climates they just need AC and i'm sure they're good to go!! in the summers we walk him in the morning and at night before it gets warmer but not sure how it would be in florida!!

@@cupofjordy Wow!! Thanks so much for your reply 💓 Michigan?? Aaaaaww you're in the perfect State for him 👍🏻 I will try and see if I meet someone with a BMD in the city I'm moving to. Yes, that would be the right thing to do... Walk him early and after sunset. Felix is truly a beautiful BMD 🐶💕 he's like a gentle giant... Just like my Rottweiler was💞💔💓 I really appreciate your channel!!! I Love all animals!!!! Muchas gracias!! 💞
