Good God “not a lot of knee room to spare”. You could park a bus back there.

It is definitely possible to drive with one pedal, I do it on most of my journeys, you soon learn the braking force that is applied when off the pedal and adjust your driving accordingly, it’s actually set to match a very typical braking force you would normally use. If you want less regen, then lift your foot less of the pedal. Knee room is great, as you can see you could put your suitcase in front of your knees! The panoramic roof is not available on the 77kw version. The infotainment can be setup so your most used options displayed all the time and can be adjusted with only one click, like drive mode, lane assist, consumption etc. There is also a favourites button at the top right where you can pick some favourite options, again 1 click away. Air con setting work well, I usually always active the air con 10 mins before going to the car anyway, to cool or heat it, so less messing around when driving. Oh, and the steering wheel buttons, they are not touch sensitive, you actually have to press them, very easy to use. I’m not sure if you mention that in the video though. All in all and very good review.

It is not possible to drive one pedal, because the car doesn't come to a complete stop this way. That is what meant by "no one-pedal drive"

@@89DerChristianYou are correct, but my reply is based on his comment in the video, where he says “B slows the car off throttle but not by enough to deliver one pedal driving characteristics”. He doesn't define what he means exactly, but to me it sounds like general driving in B mode is not possible with one pedal, when it actually is totally possible, apart from stopping below 5kph.

Brilliant and comprehensive. Love your delivery style and I must make a nod to you getting in all the Jason Bourne film titles. I’m looking forward to your Fisker Ocean in-depth review.

The stated performance is 5-80% in 35 minutes on a 58(62) battery. So 75% of 58 is 43.5 so in 35 minutes it needs to average 75kwh over that range. The best I’ve ever achieved was 72 on ionity once - all this has been scheduled out to Listers and VWs solicitors in detail and none of my figures have ever been challenged at all! Not anything. Not one charge, one number: nothing. It simply doesn’t perform ever at that stated level. In contrast my BMW i4 just hits the numbers ever single time

Video content was very repetitive - showing the same information over and over multiple times during the 43 minute video

So a year on and now you have to factor in a) higher insurance costs b) road fund tax about to be introduced c) BIK rates about to be changed d) fire risk exclusions and e) horrendous depreciation rates

Got rid of mine: phew! Trouble is the EV platform is VW and despite the stated charging speed figures, it doesn’t deliver those! When you complain they say it’s only a range (albeit it never gets in to the range!). My experience was DC charging 20-80% is more like 50-55 minutes not 35. AC charging about 80% of the time was only half charging due to some battery safe mode that apparently randomly cuts the charge so on a cheap overnight 6hr charge I was getting 20kw not 40! Big difference. I had mine for 4 months, it then spent 6 weeks in garage and I got a BM i4 which is brilliant

@@rivervalegroupI’d appreciate some honesty from VW but it appears despite the noises after dieselgate that they still play very fast and loose. I’ve got friends who have id3&4 and have problems with those

I don't want to be rude but the charging performance you quote at 37 minutes is pie in the sky. Even on 350kwh I can only get around 60kw so 5-80% normally takes 50 minutes. Generally it charges half the power of an ac or dc charger's capacity so 11 on a 22 etc. Really bad experience was 25kwh on 150kwh charger. Very misleading info.

It’s important to know that all EV have an specific maximum peak charge rate the Cupra Born V3 77KWh battery has a peak charge rate of 170kW - so putting it on a DC charger with any higher capability makes no difference ( and you may pay more for the higher charge rate). When charging you’ll only get the peak 170kW for part of the charge curve (see Fastned App/web site for vehicle specific charge curves) and you’ll only get that if the battery temperature is right, ambient temperature is conducive to it and a few other various factors. The 58 kWh battery only has a 125kW peak charge rate capability. Regarding AC charging that is limited by the cars on-board inverter for the Cupra Born that is 11kW so again connecting it to a faster public AC charger makes no difference indeed you’ll only get the full 11kW for a charger rated at 11kW for higher if similarly favourable battery/ambient temperature conditions. And again the higher capability charger 22kW or 43kW AC may have a higher tariff. And for home charging you’ll be limited to the EVSE ( Electric Vehicle Service Equipment ) installation you have which in the UK where most domestic properties are single phase that’ll be 7.4 kW. Choosing the charger most compatible with the car saves money and is courteous to other users who may be able to make use of the higher speeds ( EV6, GV60, Ionic 5, Taycan, Tesla ) thus more quickly freeing up chargers for other users. Hope that helps.

@@Antiguan_Dart No it doesn’t because the Cupra Born official website doesn’t put any caveats about battery temperature against ac charging rate. I’m in litigation over it now so will be posting a detailed litigation outcome video in due course but it may interest you that: 1: Cupra rely on a 2023 website with caveats linked to VW web info regarding a car purchased in 2022 (work that one out!). 2: The website info I reviewed when choosing is still available and has not been adjusted or corrected! 3: Cupra now say on DC charging that half charge rate is normal because the battery goes in to protect mode. They’ve not explained why they advertise cheap Ohme/Octopus charging overnight with no warning it will actually be 3.5kwh. By the way I chose both power company and charger brand on their website recommendation. I think VW are sitting on the next mis-selling scandal like emissions. Thanks (ps buy a BMW i4 it’s wonderful and performs bang on statements made).

By way of an update Seat Cupra official website has just been updated to insert in a whole bunch of performance caveats from those nice VW people (of dieselgate fame). Of course nothing to do with my claim!
