It can be used on smooth timber. Painted the kids mud kitchen in this 8 years ago. All smooth and mostly indoor smooth pine. It has been outside ever since and is still perfect

In my experience with ducksback it’s prob the best fence paint I have used but it does not take well to other paints .. ducksback has to absorb into the timber for it to fully cure it will not dry on on paints will just wash off soon as it rains

Which sprayer did you use? We've just has a hawthorn hedge replaced with a paling fence which will need re-treating at some point, as will our old shed. We also have a small brick workshop with 3 sides rendered, so I'm thinking about getting a sprayer that will cope with the shed & fence treatment as well as (diluted) masonry paint.

Did you put it in just a regular pressure sprayer? How much did you water it down by?

How long do you need to let the fence dry before a second coat? Thank you!

Does diluting the paint weaken the protection

Can you put cuprinol duckback over cuprinol shades as i want to change a light colour to a darker one
@jasonbryan68606 ай бұрын
Best thing I would do is try a small area first to see if the ducksback adheres to the previous paint .. as one comment stated over time the wax coat does wear off with uv and general weather so may help with applying another coat

Do another waterproof test after a couple of months. Surface wax disappears really quicky due to UV degradation. It either needs to be suspended in solvent for deep penetration into the timber, or applied via paint where the pigment protects it from UV degradation. It's ok buying these cheap treatments if you plan on an annual maintenance routine but it's definitely the case with exterior timber treatment that you only get what you pay for, and a decent treatment or paint for between £30 to £35 (5 litres) will last for several years.

True,was does degrade,but colour lasts really well,and it's easy to re-coat.
@peterowe37998 ай бұрын
@keithhooper6123 Maybe I had a bad batch because it lasted less than 6 months on my fence before going all patchy on the tops and towards the bottom of each panel. I recoated with Garden Shades, and that has been going well for over 2 years now.

How are you supposed to repaint it after the 5 years when it starts to fail?

Excellent question. I've tested painting more on after a couple of months no prob.

What was the dilution rate you used to water it down ?
