I’ve had one of these since the 1960’s. Without the suppressor. It is still in very good condition. Fun to shoot.

I'd have to disagree with the notion that the performance isn't affected in terms of the muzzle velocity. The holes drilled in the barrel to disperse the gas reduces the pressure that builds behind the bullet, thus reducing the acceleration that you would normally have down the full length of the barrel.

I have a HS MD Military. standard barrel of course. Nice critter zapper or when ice booger gets too large on the power line feeding the house in winter. Handy tool.

I just picked mine up. Bull barrel instead of the suppressor. Blued finish. Checkered grips. Original mag. Made in 1947. Pretty sweet little gun. Can't wait to shoot it

I'll have to disagree with the comment that the bullet velocity would still be the same. The reason is, the effective length of the barrel is much shorter, than the original barrel. These guns would normally have at least a 5 1/2 inch barrel. Everybody knows, a shorter barrel will not have the same velocity as a longer barrel. That's just a fact.

Yeah, if those are the barrel holes we see there, they look pretty large. Once the bullet passes a couple of those holes, that's all she wrote for acceleration.

what about the rifling? are the holes all the way around the bore? or was it just made as a close range weapon?

give it a thought, OSS, behind enemy lines operations, its a suppressed handgun designed for taking out without raising an alarm, how far of a range would you want it to have? given the circumstances

@@dusand98A suppressor makes things quieter, yeah, but so does simple distance. And since these things were built off target pistols, they were pretty accurate. Never hurts.

Me too. I don't understand, why would DF carry this ancient and underpowered gun in the late 1990's?

@@sofuckingannoying would they, though? I think the gun never was a part of DF's equipment, but put in the game for it's secret agent looks and for being silent. DF2 brought a silenced 45.
