Glad to learn I.m not the only one who attaches to a handmade garment the sentiments attached to the time of its making. My mother passed away in the spring and I spent long hours in the palliative ward with my knitting untouched on the chair beside me. I thought it would keep me calm and centered but I knew I would never wear the cardigan I was making without thinking of her last days.

What a wonderful array of knits! I just found your podcast and it's enjoyable and uplifting. I also recently knit a Sheep Camp and had similar feelings about the project. Look forward to your 2024 knits!

You could embroider the missing stripe onto your Tolsta no.1! There are infinite possibilities to make The stripe an interesting feature on this garment. Have fun, just as I have when watching your makings. Great video! Cheers 😊

So fun to watch!! I LOVE your Sheep Camp Knit. You don't have a link above for it, but found it on Ravelry. I think we are very similar knitters- love to knit, but don't love and wear everything we make. Laughed so hard when you said- I didn't want to knit anymore so I just put the hem on. I would totally do the same thing. lol Take Care -Kim

Thanks for putting yourself 'out there' with all your lovely knits - worn and not worn so much! I noticed the ones you really enjoy eg. the shawl at the end as well as Instant Crush are probably well within your color palette - your skin and eyes really pop in those shades. I look forward to seeing your future choices!

I'm so glad you said it, I completely agree that being a knitter isn't always about the wearing of the product, more about the explorative journey we went on in creating these pieces! I love knitting because I love trying different techniques, different yarns, discovering what a pattern would look like in a different season yarn than what's recommended etc. That being said I do wear my knits, and don't ever buy commercial jumpers or cardigans anymore, because I am proud to show off my journey and feel good about making slow fashion choices. Maybe I could have knit something that was technically more 'flattering' or less audacious, but I'm not excited about knitting those things and the knitting process is what's most important to me. Wondering if the issue with your Rhinebeck sweater is because the yoke is so deep? I've had the exact same problem on multiple colourwork yokes and my rule now is deep yokes need more ease or i'll be constantly adjusting the sweater while i'm trying and failing to comfortably move in it.

What a brilliant and thoughtful comment! Thank you so much! I love especially the line "I am proud to show my journey" and I just couldn't agree more. Thanks so much for the kind words, and that's a good point about the yoke on the Rhinebeck too!

Been waiting for this , thank you, I’ve now got a few ideas for my next knit (s) I’ve been in a flunk as I have around 40 knit sweaters in my wardrobe, some I really wear a lot and others I just don’t and it’s not because I don’t like them BUT I started to think, Why? Why? Am I knitting more when I have so many? So hearing you talk about not having to wear them all and treat them as a piece of art. It’s given me meaning to my day. So appreciate that. 🙂🙂🙂

Great episode, thank you. I really enjoyed seeing all your sweaters. For the striped Tolsta that you feel is missing a stripe, you could duplicate stitch on a stripe or other motif to give balance to the upper body of the shirt. Knitting brings so much joy, so even if you don't wear the garment, its done its job 😊

The Magin might work well over a dress. Or, you could add texture with duplicate stitching around the yoke (maybe look at Wool & Pine's Sorrel sweater for inspiration. It fits you great, and looks good. Your Ready Set Raglan is a great color on you and the yoke ribbing is interesting. The Winter SL sweater looks like the yoke before you separate the body from the sleeves was too long for your torso (hence the whole sweater rising on you when your lift your arms). If you were to remake it, separate the body and sleeves before the colorwork ends, and continue the colorwork if you want, after separating.

That's a neat idea to look at the Sorrel! Thanks!

knitting for me is about the process, but at the same time my motivation is that it’s for me, and then after it’s done is when I start to think about who to give it to lol. I can’t start a project thinking it’s a gift knit or I’ll never get through it. 😂

Loved the review of your year! I looked at the Azucena-the beauty you don’t wear. The pattern photo just makes my eyes go to the shoulders, much more than yours does. Your colors are less prominent, but I wonder if that’s what you notice, too? I liked the fit of yours.

@@Lily_curatorial_knits The one I thought I commented on you didn’t wear much. It was beautiful, but what I noticed was that the shoulders were prominent. I notice large horizontal prominence on quite a few designs. I’m short and can’t have that look. However, you wore whatever it was beautifully! All your knits are just lovely and inspiring.

The Tolsta Tee is a great pattern. I have just finished one in NZ high twist merino and i will absolutely make another. The guage is too loose for me but it is easy to adjust with a bit of math. Stick Season is a beautiful pattern also. Love your colour choices, especially the light bright colours. Interesting podcast, thanks

That was great, even the pirates! I really like your idea that a finished object is still a success as something to look at from time to time. I don’t think you said like a work of art. It doesn’t have to be useful just give us pleasure either in the making or to admire. That makes me think I will hang a certain shawl, that I never wear, where I can see it.

Okay, not saying you need to knit another Marseille, but if you do, I'd consider sizing down. I usually knit a medium or 3, and I knit mine in an xs, and it's still oversized. Also, would you ever throw it in the dryer with a wet towel on the lowest setting for a couple minutes? 🔥🔥 And your stripey tolsta looks like it could use a monogram or a small embroidered bit in the top where you wish there was another stripe. Either way, thanks for sharing your makes and your process! 🎉🎉🎉

If you think your tolsta needs another row of stripes for you to wear it, why don't you embroider some simple daisies across the top of the stripe at the front. It may help to fill that gap that you don't like.
