Beautiful sweaters! I have been knitting for a long time and even though I prefer knitting top down, I have noticed that my old sweaters have more “structure” because of the seams. I was a sewer so have confidence “setting in sleeves”, etc. You are such a skilled knitter that mastering the mattress stitch and pinning/basting a project together should be a piece of cake for you! I’m very intimidated by the Millie sweater. Gorgeous work!!
@Lily_curatorial_knits3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your confidence! I am definitely intimidated by the seams, but I also know that the challenge helps us feel like we are moving forward! :) Your thoughts on structure are really helpful too. Thanks again and happy knitting!

So much to love here - first and foremost the joy with which you share all your creative inspiration (many notes were taken!) and of course, the beautiful makes. The Millie cardigan is everything I aspire to when I think of easy Bay Area style, the play by play of your colorwork outfit extravaganza, the thought process of your color/contrast choices and the siren song of the framed all in the background…. And the hula hoop section may be my favourite part. What a joy to share this time here with you again! ❤

Thanks for all the inspiration! I love how excited you are to talk about knitting. I made a pressed flowers cardigan last year and the body took forever, but the sleeves seemed to go by quicker. You can do it! You’re going to love the final product. And as far as Marie Wallen's colorwork - I heard that she often does it flat. So you might need to convert to round. I also think the term “Aran” to the British actually equals our worsted weight. So confusing!
@Lily_curatorial_knits3 ай бұрын
Yes! Luckily I have the patterns and hit gauge for the Marie Wallins and it’s true the Aran weight is knit at an almost heavy DK weight?! Thank you so much for your kind comment ❤

Omg-- we are totally on the same wavelength! I've just cast on a marie wallin colorwork pattern, also inspired by bright, punchy colors from rtw sweaters, also to wear to rhinebeck. Can't wait to see your vision come to life, especially cause I bought the pride & prejudice advent last year and have been wracking my brain with what I can make 😅 The other loops sweater in the spincycle also looks like a beautiful project plan!

I so enjoyed your podcast today. I look forward to knitting everyday. What is your Ravelry moniker? I tried the link but it wants me to go to browsers and since I’m on Ravelry most of the time I can just put you in my friends. Now for the question? Did you run 2 strands of birdie with your Turtle Dove or just the one? It’s pretty fluffy yarn. Your version gave me so many ideas. Oh and I went to Verb in July and bought an insane amount of yarn. 😮 their colors are just so gorgeous. 53:11 Laurie

Hi first time watching u l, ❤ your channel! Question on pressed flower cardigan on your three needle bind off. First of all I think that is the perfect option to seaming; I hate seaming too! Did u do it wrong sides together? If u did if it was done right sides together the seam would have been on the inside. Possibly u wanted seam In the outside🤷♀️.
@Lily_curatorial_knits3 ай бұрын
That's right! I wanted that little exposed braid line because the motif wasn't going to line up perfectly due to the shoulder slope decreases. I think it works well, but if I didn't have to worry about the pattern work I probably would have done the seam inside!
@tambraarchibald62173 ай бұрын
Hi Lily! Just an FYI… I added steek stitches at the sleeves and knit my Framed in the round. It was my first time steeking and was so easy. Also, I used DK yarn so it wouldn’t be so warm - double worsted just sounds too 🥵. Tammi, Wool and Wine

Just curious what method the Marie Wallin patterns use if you passed on Framed because you didn't want to knit color work flat?
