This video includes a Craftsman Wet/Dry Vac found in the Trash in the local area among other items. Model 113.177611. Can we fix and use this once relevant item to the owner and restore it to working condition? Let's find out.
For information the fuse is a 120C thermal fuse, which works out to over 220 degrees F I believe, so it had to get pretty hot for that to blow, at any rate we will work around that, however for safety the fuse should be replaced.

Just found one today.. It works.. Cord was cut.. no plug.. .. I fixed that.. but , evidently a sheetrock guy had owned it, and now I have to clean all the dust out before I can take it in the house. I have the hose, just need the attachements.

Even if I were to use this personally, I would make sure to get a replacement fuse in there as soon as I could. It is there for a reason, and you never know what could happen, even if you are careful. Plus, if anyone else should ever decide to use it in lieu of yourself, it could definitely cause issues if someone else abuses the shop-vac, and there is no thermal protection. I hope you were able to fix it the way it should have been.

Back in the day say 30 years ago they never did put safety fuses in even before that motor housings weren’t even grounded or plastic and United Labratory were getting into implementing safety standards above what was before say 50s that’s when plastic started to replace metal in home appliances

Thanks for video, I like how you found the hidden fuse. So what would you have done next if the motor didn't run after hooking it up to the power supply? How do you test the windings?

Your welcome Chris!, just be sure to replace the fuse. I probably wouldn't have proceeded with the fix if the motor didnt turn aside from cleaning the copper and making sure the brushes still had a decent length on them.

Thank you everyone for watching the video, please consider donating with cashapp to $repairprowny, it will help me pay some bills during this tough time so I can continue to bring more content, any amount is truly appreciated, a few have already donated and it's really something that people are always willing to help. Think about it, 10 dollars x 100 subscribers is a decent amount during these hard times. Thank you everyone! More to come.

My Wen 5 gal quit.... I think I blew the motor by not having the filter in it at the time, when I turned it on it stopped. ?

There could be a thermal fuse inside, you would have to take it apart and look at the motor.

I have a 1.5. Year old maximum wet vac that died. There was a thermal fuse with the black connect wire attached to the motor but after testing it, it’s fine. My motor has two metal boxes sticking out out that I can’t seem to remove without damaging them. Any idea if there is another fuse inside the motor?
@frankiefixdiy

Good question, those metal boxes are probably brushes for the motor, just follow the electrical wire coming in but typically if you found the fuse that's probably it, I would use a multimeter and test for voltage.

What was the temperature rating of the thermal fuse you replaced? Is there a brand or model number for the thermal fuse? Where did you order it from?

Mine used to sound normal, now it screams so high pitched it'll make you deaf. Any suggestions?

Not sure unless there is something caught in the motor, sometimes removing the motor and lightly lubricating it takes care of the issue or the motor is on it's way out.

There's three main failure points on a shop vac; 1. The top motor bearing (can be replaced with a 608 sealed bearing on some motors) 2. The thermal fuse 3. The motor brushes

What if it sucks but not sucking to its full peak. Also. I smell something getting burned but no visible smoke. I cleaned it a don't see a block
@frankiefixdiy

Good question, I can only say it could be a word out motor or it is overheating, although if it was, the thermal fuse would blow. Without looking it tough if you already checked for blockage. I had to laugh at the question at first comparing it to some ex-girlfriends. Hahahahaha!
