14:31 The black thing is not for flowers Mike. It holds wine bottles upside down to keep the corks wet and swollen. With screw top bottles and synthetic corks, it has become less important to store wine on it's side or upside down to keep the cork hydrated.

Mike you need a lift gate. A lot of scrappers and salvagers have invested in them. Saves you money less back strain , injury from lifting heave appliances and heavy anything. They say they made their money back easily. They can pick up bigger metals. Furnaces, hot water heaters…. Check it out. What you got to lose?

While I totally agree, I have seen great stuff on the curb too, I ought to know, I used to work for a trash company and I've had to clean up some serious messes people have gone through scavenging, not that I haven't been scavenging a time or a thousand myself 😅

@@jamesalinio5277 , I agree. You can find some really cool stuff on the curb, but the dumpsters Mike visits have incredible stuff. You can pretty much predict what will be on the curb, but the dumpsters have some of the wildest stuff I have ever seen!!! 😂😂😂. I used to scrap, when I had a truck. I miss those days. I’m just reliving those days through Mike’s videos. 😂

@@KeepItReal33 when I worked with the trash company, I'd go around the county to the six convenience sites to get the time sheets every two weeks, I'd check out the dumpsters and check the hydraulics for the compactors at each site, and call in what I seen that needed dumped, I would scavenge the construction and demolition dumpsters for any "good stuff" lol boxes of hard wood flooring, bathroom fixtures, pretty much anything I could use or even resell, it was getting the stuff out of the company truck into my car or truck is where I would get into trouble with the office, the manager kept saying that there was a policy that employees don't dig in the trash LoL I finally broke that rule when I had to work a city route one day and brought in a bunch of hunting magazines and a shotgun shell reloader, the manager had me bring it all in to his office where he started reading the magazines, long story short, he "bought" everything for $50 and I put it in his pickup truck to take home, I kinda miss that job, but I don't miss the BS I had to put up with on a daily basis

Hi, There are quite a lot of You tube sites not worth wasting eye time on. My top 5 sites are The Arms Family Homestead, Keeping it Dutch, Hidden Heights Farm, Mike the Scavenger and Linker. What attracts me to the first 3 sites are the personalities of the families. The great mix of things they report on and the bucolic sites the first 3 are in. Mike is a Dumper Diver who keeps up a hilarious commentary as he works though the things he discovers. Finally Doug Linker, Canadian whittler who has a magic way of teaching the craft. All these 5 have an important similarity, never boring. I am a 75 year old Englishman and rarely watch television fiction and finds great joy in real life facts. Many thanks to you all.

I just LOVE watching your Videos. You are a Professional !! I watched a couple of videos from “Dumpster Diving UK” and Mike I’ve gotta tell you, that man makes me want to pull my hair out !! I’m always shouting at him, Holy Crow, you’re leaving ALL THAT GREAT METAL, ALUMINUM, COPPER WIRE, AND BAGS OF HARDWARE BEHIND ???? I mean my gosh, he really drives me crazy. He looks over the top and if there isn’t anything in sight, he leaves 😮. When he does find open tops LOADED with scrap he starts out saying that he’s going to “get it alll it’s not going to the landfills”!! Then after several boxes, he’s winded and huffing and puffing and then he says “well that’s it”!!! But there’s Tons More. I know that you would spend a whole day or two on gathering EVERYTHING out of those bins. He’s so Stupid and he breathes so heavy you’d think he just ran a marathon !! Okay I’m feeling better now. @12:33 That's the same kind of patio heater that I get from my night job. When they break, because they've blown over in the wind, then they give them to me for scrap. Those side panels are not stainless, but the vent element at the top is, and the big cap is aluminum.
