You can take double A or triple A batteries and rub the positive side real fast back and forth on a carpet and it will actually give the batteries a little charge, enough to where you never have to buy batteries for your TV remote again. When the yarn is made and on the bobbet, they take an antistat wand and run it all over the the yarn bobbet and it puts out what looks like small lighting, but anyway they put that on them so that the yarn stands up all the time. Ever walk across a carpet with socks on and then touch someone and it shocks them, the antistat is what causes that. Yeah just take both your remote batteries and hold them together with the positive side down and rub real fast back and forth for maybe a min and your good to go. I used to work at a factory that makes the yarn and used to watch them load the bobbets up with electricity.

Those propane tanks if not outdated for use are still refillable and therefore worth money, a new unfilled one costs about $30 at most stores. I would keep a few just to get them refilled and keep spare on hand for your grill or whatnot. Also great to burn weeds with a weed burning torch in flower beds or rock beds in your landscaping around the house if you have any.

The 2 "controlers" you found in the first dumpster are VFDs. A variable frequency drive that regulates the hertz of the electricity. Change that and it changes the speed the motor turns. Should be full of copper and aluminum inside the plastic shell. Don't know if it is enough to warrant taking apart instead of scrapping the case and all together.
