People have thrown away useful items for years. Back in the early 70’s my great-uncle ran the county dump and he would pick out useful items that were thrown away. My first vacuum cleaner came from the dump. It just needed a new hose which I found at a thrift shop. Used it for several years for the house and once I could afford a better one it was used in the garage. Found a very nice baby stroller that only needed a new cover. I knew how to sew so made one from a plastic tablecloth. Used it a lot with my son. People who knew what he did would often stop at the office and drop off useful items. He said he made almost as much selling the stuff as he did from his salary. 7:40

FYI: A paper clip makes a decent enough zipper handle if the original one is missing and the holes it connects into are open. I use one on a jacket I got years ago from a Salvation Army and it works great.

A lot of books donated are 1) outdated (so anything with instructions for something 10+ years ago) 2) are not going to sell 3) are destroyed or ruined in one way or the other or 4) just thrown away for stupid reasons. Many can be donated, but it eliminates it from a company's bottom line and throwing it away can sometimes mean the company gets a reduction on taxes. Libraries often donate books that are no longer borrowed, are damaged in a way that is unappealing to borrowers, or are replaced with newer versions of the books. Support local libraries!

@@curbsidejunkies It's the same here in the UK. You have to get permission from the household to take the trash they're getting rid of....crazy rules. As for dumpster diving we'd get arrested for doing it, another crazy rule in my opinion. You're just making more room for them to put even more stuff in the dumpster. Keep up the good work Stace. Love watching you go through the dumpster and curbside rubbish. You really go through everything to find things, sometimes Adam just gives a quick glance over and decides theres nothing in there.
