Great finds! On the dry oatmeal, it's possible your ducks or chickens could eat that. I think. I know that's what we give to the ducks at our local park and they love it :)

Dumpster diving is LEGAL in all 50 states. But, May be against town or city ordinances. Check with the town prior to diving.

Books could be donated to local nursing homes and some cities have book boxes for donations, similar to planet aid donation boxes.

Instead of giving the items they can't sell away they throw it away same with returns. It's against the law for the companies to give it away . Enjoy the finds . They would give it all away if they could but they would be facing mega fines on the company part. So keep collecting what the companies put out there for your convience. Don't let it all go to waste.

Corporations are afraid of lawsuits around here, so they have good reason to toss things unfortunately. Texas laws ought make it a little tougher for consumers to win the "I did something stupid, but the store bears some responsibility" lawsuits. But they toss stuff anyway instead of donating. GRRRR.
