I'm starting treatment this week! I'm both excited and a bit nervous. I've had a lot of medical trauma this year but I'd give just about anything to find relief from this CONSTANT pain 💙

I had this done but it hasn’t really helped. We did 20 units each side in my jaw and 5 each side in my temporalis. I wonder if I should have done more but afraid to go back and add in case it’s then too much. I’m sad it didn’t really work for me. I had high hopes and it was expensive
@delt198 ай бұрын
That's discouraging to hear. Was the 20 units dose on the lower side of the potential dosage? I'm just starting to look at botox for my tmd discomfort after 10+ years of constant aches in my jaw.

I had 22 units of botox in each side of my masseters. That was a month ago and now my face is tiny and wrinkled. Im 40 and jowls fell forward and a double chin. I look a decade older. When will it wear off and will my jawline go back to normal?
@Private-wj4nd5 ай бұрын
Did you go back to normal? My dentist told me that once the muscle is built up so large from grinding/clenching that Botox may relieve pain, but will never improve appearance.
@lisaboxell6705 ай бұрын
Its filling out more now but the laxity is still there. Like my skin never retightened. It must be my age @Private-wj4nd
@ds748784 ай бұрын
@Private-wj4nd I can tell you from experience that it absolutely DOES improve appearance. For me it shrank my masseter muscle. Yeah it was temporary but that's because I couldn't afford to go back after it wore off.

If you're at the point where you need botox, you should probably see a TMJ specialist dentist and/or oral surgeon. Botox, night guards, etc are just temporary fixes. They don't address the root cause.
@sknz2109 Жыл бұрын
Yea sure. Go research it. Nothing is covered for TMJ and these specialists and surgeons know it so they bend you over when it comes to billing.
