V-Mail was written on full-size paper by servicemen overseas, then it was photographed onto microfilm and sent back to the USA, where the film was developed and printed out in that small format. So it’s not a photocopy … it’s a photo. This was done to save space and weight. Microfilm is a lot easier to ship than bags and bags of letters.

I have rations books also from WWII. My dad, who recently passed away at the age of 96, explained to me that you were given a certain number of stamps for various items that were being rationed such as gasoline, sugar, etc. if you didn’t have a coupon,you couldn’t get the item. As a young man, it really limited where and when he could drive. I have some of his books as well as some if my grandparents’ books.

My mom used to have tea parties with my son when he was little. He's in his 40s now and mom has been gone since 1999 but he still remembers the tea parties and has the tea set they used.💕

Love this video❤ I cried happy tears too😢🎉 but I have to say that the earrings you wore look like they are made backwards. I love seeing all the jewelry you wear. 💛 I wanted to see what was on them but all you could see was the backs. I got a pair of earrings from temu that were made to face sideways but they faced the back when I put them on. I had to take them apart and fix them. I love emphmra I make junk journals but I am extremely in love with the old emphmra post cards and old pictures and letters and receipts newspaper clippings...you are lucky to find some of that history because people just throw it out when going through their love ones items..let me know if you put it up for sale or you want to pass it on and I can put it into a journal..
