I've taken my firestick to hotels. Some worked fine, but others the volume was too loud. I couldn't turn down the volume with the firestick controller or the TV controller (the remotes). I tried muting the TV, turning down the volume prior to installing the firestick, and nothing helped. How do I get the volume down and controlled by the remote?

What did Amazon tell you? Remotes can go bad. If you replaced the batteries and did all the syncing tricks we've shared, they might need to replace it

So, how did you find out about them? It's easier to tell you which one i knew about that to list all the ones that I didn't know about. I've had the Firestick app on my phone for a couple of years now. Really love it when I use the search function. Easier to type on my phone that to use the remote for text. All the others I really didn't know. I have to play this again, probably, repeatedly, to find about all of them.

Turn off the VPN. You need to be on the same wifi IP address to cast. Or better yet, use expressvpn on your router so everything is protected on the same IP

That's simply because if you are on the same server, you are still grabbing a different IP address. Use the VPN on your router. Then you can do it and still have a VPN running. Have you tried this?

Ok, this is my second time requesting information regarding the two terabyte beast of a Firestick. 1st, I recently resolved the looping issue with my Firestick. I'm in agreement with you that the peripherals was the problem, i.e., the two terabyte hard drive and its associated hardware. Help! I want to be able to see the hard drive with its memory capacity. @@CuriosityCafe Thanks for the reply but I am slow on the uptake. How does one use it? What do I need on my end besides this thing to make it work? Do I need an internet connection? Does it only work with Amazon or does it work with all the other entities like HBO, Netflix, Hulu, etc? Think of me as a blind and deaf person and you have to describe any object to me that I have never before experienced. (Let me give you an example: I taught in a very remote area and the children did not have access to electricity or a landline telephone, let alone a mobile phone. The only phone was in the school office. To acclimate my students to the outside world I would have a class on how to use the office phone. Here is where you can not take anything for granted. I had to explain what the handset was for, how to hold it, which end to listen from and which end to speak into. I also had to teach them how to dial.) All this is basic to us but to someone who has never seen or used a phone it can be a perplexing and daunting task.

I would start by watching our firestick beginners video. It's a streaming stick. Plugs into any tv and with the use of wifi or a hotspot brings the internet to your tv. This allows you to stream movies and tv without the use of traditional cable. Plenty of beginner videos. I would start there.
