That was such a cool box. I love things like that. The person may have been a flyer or was also a collector because I doubt the same person or family had 3 or more "Service Offered Service Refused (?)" pins. But I loved the box. And I love untangling jewellery. Don't ask me why, I just do. It's so satisfying when it's finally all free. Like finishing a puzzle. 😄

Alex The large white pearl straight pin is a hat pin. I have some that were my mother's and grandmother's. I really enjoyed looking at the contents of this box. Look into the value of the costume jewelry it has made a big come back here in the States and some of the older pieces are worth a lot. I would've loved to been able to sit there with you and gone through the box. What some people think is just old junk l really love. I still have rings we got from the gumball machines back in the 60s and a set of plastic winds received from flying on Delta Airlines. I'm the one that would untangle the necklaces I've become very good at it over the years. I'm so glad the video finally played for me. My Grandmother had the newspapers from WWII with a picture of Hitler on the front page, the crash of the Hindenburg and the picture of the plane that crash on their farm in Vermont sadly the person that was staying at my house didn't look inside the bag that was in the box she just thought it was just papers that had been used to pack something and they put them in the trash. I wish I would've put them in a safety deposit box a long with money and jewelry.

Video plays now! Thank you! I’m a jewelry maker & just wanted to comment on a few of the gorgeous jewelry pieces you found! The first lady’s gold ring with red stones you picked up could be rubies but could also be garnets. The second, larger gold ring with red stones look more like rubies ( on my screen anyway). The silver ring (men’s, I think?) with the largish blue stone that has lots of sparkles inside it? That blue stone is called blue goldstone. It’s a man made material. Copper inclusions make it so sparkly. Hope that helps! Thanks for your wonderful videos!

That Shanook flying school could have been from Shanook AFB, Illinois. I was born there. : ) My dad was an AF pilot. I had an aunt named Hazel, too. That Siam jewelry looks familiar. My dad brought some back with similar designs from there as well. Could be there were several men in that family who became pilots, or they swapped emblems and such with other pilots they encountered? Those swimmers patches I believe came from the Red Cross.

The sparkly blue stone ring is a moon stone ring. The are often in a copper color for the stone and legend has it that monks, when working with stain glass had an accident and copper shavings fell into the glass creating the stone. Not sure on total story accuracy but when I was creating gemstone jewelry and ordered my regulars of garnet and lapis lazuli, I picked up some of the moonstone and was told the legend

Video is working again! Hooray!!! What a fascinating box of treasures! Perhaps that eternity charm goes with the memorial locket? The Romanian lei (singular: leu) look to be relatively new, and the man on the notes, Nicolae Iorga, was a celebrated late-19th/early-20th century historian. And yes, that is one impressive beard! Fun Fact: my father was born in Romania in '37. During the war, he had a baby sister who 'disappeared' following an occupation of their family home by a German commander & his mistress (who apparently doted on the baby.) Dad thinks the commander's mistress may have taken the baby with her when they left... so my dad may still have a little sister somewhere in the world! After hearing about the Alex-Heather reunion, he's interested to see if DNA tracking can help him find her and/or her children. ❤️
