You're not alone, I have been through all of the same, and "yes" it is a very emotional journey. Take care of yourself and know that I totally get it "all of it". Hugs and sending much love!

So interesting. No one was ‘at fault’ and yet there is still tension instead of a happy reunion of everyone.

I can thank ancestry for the gift of an unexpected sister. I received a message similar to yours. It seems my mother had 3 secrets. 2 of those secrets are still unknown. The one who found me is an absolute blessing. Thank you for sharing! I love hearing these stories.

I was in an orphanage my whole childhood but I found out that I actually have 10 siblings (all from my mother) who I did not know existed. They were either adopted or fostered out. I have contacted all but two brother (John and Michael) who still have not gotten in touch with me. They evidently don't want to meet the other siblings. It will disrupt their lives. One brother (Eddie) is deceased. Everyone keeps telling me that I should go on the that lost siblings TV show.

My family discovered through one of those sites that my great-grandfather had a child with the wife of a couple he and his wife were friends with. They probably knew, but none of the children knew. So late in life my grandmother's half sister found out the man she thought was her father really wasn't (biologically). It became my job to share genealogical info with her which I did of course. Nobody on our side of the family was upset in any way with the news. My great-grandfather was a Navy man who liked to drink in an era in which many people drank a lot, so I guess we none of us were surprised.

I'm an adoptee who grew up as an only child. I had a brother and sister who were my adoptive mother's kids. Both are a lot older than me and I haven't seen them in many years. When I was 30, I found my birth mother and discovered I am the eldest of 6 on my maternal side. 3 of us were all adopted out and she kept three. With my birth mother's consent, I searched for and found those two siblings. I also have 3 other siblings with whom I share a birth father. There's been a lot of ups and downs over the years and I still have 2 siblings I haven't met even though I know where they are. As relationships go....it's complicated

My husband and I love going up to British Columbia, Canada because there are so many things that the Canadian stores have that U.S. stores do not, especially grocery stores. Canadian food has much better quality than a lot of U.S. food. They also have different ethnic foods available that we just cannot get or are very expensive in the U.S. A lot of ethnic foods in the U.S. are considered specialty, which means $$$.

Not every one does DNA, no telling what the final number will be, they had condoms in the sixties and seventies and who knows if he was checking birth certificates. This could all end badly, can't own it when you're dead. Does not sound like he ever tried to find out. My favorite poster where I volunteered during law school, "who's your Daddy, don't worry baby, we'll find your Daddy," the only way to get off the hook is DNA and to their credit, not all legal fathers want to be off the hook. Plus, all people concerned, (including the women who were involved wish to have their history on KZbin)? Good luck for always a happy result, I'm sure you do an investigation before placing it on KZbin.

Alex you are a wonderful brother to Heather and a wonderful Uncle to her oldest daughter can you say a little bit more about why Heather's daughter is so angry I mean Heather's mom guessed wrong she thought her husband was the father turns out your father was Heather's father you and Heather are blameless in this whole situation Heather holds no anger towards her mother so I don't know why her mother and father would be angry at her or why Heather's daughter would be angry at her simply for finding out your father is not your biological father?

I’m sorry, I know I’m way out from when you first made this, but I wish resellers would keep intact things like what was obviously her mom’s trunk. I appreciate those “time capsules” intact and while I don’t have a lot of money, I would definitely be more interested in an “intact” trunk. I appreciate “heart” in my antiques not just a label

I did an Ancestry DNA test to clarify history as well as find out who and what I am. My dad and his siblings had a somewhat fraught relationship as teens with their dad and had gone to the US to live with their mom which didn't work out so the boys ended up renting together for the 8 years my dad spent in the States. His brothers stayed there and had their families but I've never met any of my cousins as the relationship was so fractured. My dad moved back to Canada, got married and had a family but passed when I was 13 so none of his niblings had the opportunity to meet him. His older and younger sister lived close to us so we grew up knowing all of them and still have a good relationship despite the years with family members passing and our families all growing. Both my parents passed before any of my siblings got married and had families and I wonder sometimes what it would be like if they had know them. Family dynamics are complex and get really complicated the more that get added to the mix with some not always mixing well so I understand the feelings this brings up.
