Part 18. The Grand Finale! Re-Opening a closed down 106 year old General Store.

We finally made it to our grand opening! for 106 years this building has stood on this site... from it's early days as a Pool Hall and Barber Shop to over 40 years as a General Store... it hadn't been a store in 35 years and now it's back and open for business!

That would be a great cup to have. It's rare, even more rare to find in Canada. If I had seen it, I too would have bought it. There are some great books about Edward and Wallis if you get a chance to read them. Much more information then any of the documentaries or movies.

@@wowzieee I'm fascinated by the British Monarchy and have read many books on them. My particular favourites are Victoria, Alexandra and Mary. Particularly interesting is Queen Mary who was first betrothed to Prince Albert who died mysteriously not long after the engagement was announced. There was suspicion that Albert might have been Jack the Ripper. After a gracious period of time, she was then engaged to Albert's only surviving brother who became King George V. Another interesting fact about Queen Mary was that she was obsessed with jewels and furnishings. She would invite herself to the homes of friends and if she saw something that she liked she would admire it and not leave until it was gifted to her.

Definitely yes! There's nothing like being able to sit down and get a coffee or snack when shopping at places like that. It can get tiring and make you hungry trying to see everything "in one go". Plus the idea of making it match the style of the store would be fun. Like one of those old fashioned soda shoppes or "diner-esque".

It makes me smile to see Jakota's joy at meeting viewers and subscribers to his channel. Such a sweet guy. He and Josh are such wonderful young men. (That black rotary dial wall phone is the exact one that hung in my kitchen when I was in high school....I guess I've aged myself....lots of calls to boyfriends were made on that phone by my sisters and myself. We had an EXTRA long cord so we could sit in the porch and close the door...much to my father's chagrin!! Seeing it brought back lots of good memories :))

Obviously I'm playing "catch up". I first discovered your channel somewhere around Feb or March this year. I watched all the Potter's house series and as many after as I could. Your lovely wife was right... you are like family to all those who invite you into their home via your channel. You are all warm and real, down-to-earth, kind people. Your commitment to the community has brought people from all walks of life together. I always told my kids find whatever it is in life that lights you up then make that your living. You've done that so it doesn't feel like a "job" it's part of your life. I am so sorry for the loss of Melissa's father, his spirit is still ever present, may he rest in God's arms. OH and I LOVED seeing you reunited with your step sister! You two are two peas out of the same pod!!! I live alone, far from family and I don't have visitors come in. Thrilled for you and Melissa at this fantastic Grand Opening!! What a treat to see Josh and Jakota there to support you ("thought we'd come hang out for six hours", lol). They had such important roles in getting this done, I'm glad they were able to see this reward. And to see how pleased Jamie was for the store's future, so sweet. It was quite emotional to see such big crowds coming from near and far for the big event - even people bringing you more goods to sell! When you came across the bottleneck in the back room, I wondered if people were looking for the Usihtat coffee sack! Congratulations Alex and Melissa on such a wonderful Grand Opening! If I lived closer I would certainly come to visit. I looked up Edmonton, Canada. I’m 2,371 miles from Edmonton, Canada in Kennett Square, PA. I’m 45 minutes south of Philadelphia and 10 minutes from the Delaware border. A 36 hour drive to Edmonton. That would be quite a road trip! 🌝 If you’re ever in the area please look me up! I’m 5 minutes from beautiful Longwood Gardens; a former summer home of the DuPonts. Watching this was very emotional for me. I've been rooting you and your family on for a long time. And to see it all come to fruition was awesome. I'm surprised that Hans was not there. I would have loved to be the there. So, you had a day of rest so you need to get into high gear with the next series. lolol But its true for me that watching you and the different series, is a thousand times better then anything that's on TV.
