The thing I enjoy about vids like this is the banter with the family members - and this guy is really entertaining with his little quips lol Another great thing is that it's clear that Alex wants to WORK with the family and guide them on what to look for when they're ready to clear out the stuff in the house and NOT rip them off. They both benefit and it's refreshing to see an appraiser not looking to rip off someone who knows less than he does on certain things.

OMG, seeing that INCHWORM brings back memories. We gave one to our son for Christmas when he was maybe four yrs. Old. He called it his *DOANIE^. He used to lie underneath it and use his toy wrench and pretend to repair something. My husband was a mechanic at the time and our son was imitating what he was used to seeing his father do.

Now THAT was cool. Those stickers on the fridge brought back so many memories. The clothes were awesome. I love that you also gave him some very valuable advice. Sometimes you just don't really know what you have or if it is actually worth anything. I kind of wish we had been just a little bit hoarder-esk as some of the toys we grew up with are now worth so much more. I've even seen the same items in museums. Seeing them made me feel so super old (I'm 47, so not 'super' old) and trying to share my recollections with my 26yr old son just didn't interest him so much. Oh well. I know some "clothing guys" who'd sell every single pair.

When my husband's Dad passed in 2006 we had to deal with a toy hoard PLUS every room in the big 1920s house had been wallpapered in the late 60s in that flocked wallpaper ranging from yellow to red to pink to black etc. The toy hoard is still being auctioned periodically but the flocked wallpaper was steamed off in late 2006 after my husband joined a group anonymously touring the house for sale and heard the awful comments about the hideous wallpaper. It's why the house wouldn't sell. Times have changed I guess!

I was born in 1970, and the crazy thing about this house is that it doesn't feel like a time capsule to me; it just feels like a modern house. I have to keep reminding myself that homes don't look like this anymore, Aunt Jemima isn't on packaging anymore, appliances aren't built like that anymore... but it still just looks like a normal, modern house to me.
