Had Highland Park cask strength over Christmas with my brother. It blew me away, it's well rounded and delicious. I'm not even a huge scotch guy but I'll be grabbing a bottle next time I see one.

Cheers! Happy New Year! We discussed the HP Single Cask series a bit in our HP drinkthrough. They can be quite good. Overall, usually much more expensive than the HP Cask Strength, but probably (depending on the cask) a bit better and more intense.

These guys really earned my trust with the Bradshaw Bourbon review. I bought a bottle before I saw any reviews thinking "Well it's relatively high proof and it's not that expensive. How bad can it be?" After trying it, I thought "There is no way anyone could possibly think this is drinkable." I then watched some KZbin reviews, trying to change my own mind. Most people agreed that it wasn't great but this is the only channel that really told the truth, IMO. I believe the quote was "All of the bad flavor notes of bourbon and none of the good." I do realize that everyone's palate is different but I feel that we should all be able to agree that Bradshaw Bourbon is truly awful. Also, as a perpetual tequila hater, I am surprised to say that these guys may have turned me around. After watching all the tequila reviews, I recently re-tried some tequila and am pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it. I didn't dive in to that world yet (I don't think my liquor shelf can handle it), but I am dipping my toes in the water.

@@MrRossman2 I am in California and I only see one store that has it at MSRP....I meant it is starting to go on secondary...that is what it seems anyway....I think a lot of people follow Minnick....I would actually agree with Minnick's description more than CP unfortunately but I wont buy another bottle

Proper 12 is as terrible as connor mcgregor as a person. Remus 5 is my whiskey of the year. Thought it was blended amazingly well and the availability and price were great. I went through my first bottle very quickly. Completely agree on old fitz tho. Wanted one for a while and once i tried it, theres nothing special about it. Thought it was so disappointing.

I get why you guys listed Remus V, the flavors were not blended together well, I also got the sweetness totally separated from the oak, delivered on my palate at different times, not blended. I think the less sophisticated masses (me included) didn’t care too much about that, because the sweet flavors were so dang good and the oakiness wasn’t overbearing but just the right amount, so it didn’t register as a problem that they arrived separately, not together. That problem has gone away with my bottle after being opened a few months, it’s s more blended now. A valid reason though to include it in your list as a disappointment, but not a dislike.

The Dewar's is tempting but a bit pricey. The 27 and 21 year old's are on my list to try if I can find them in my area. I've had the Highland Park 12 before and really enjoyed it. I'd like to try the Cask Strength sometime.

I dont get the remus hype either. Granted i have not had 5, but i got a 2 on sale this year. NOT impressed at all! I dont care how many people love it, i wouldn't buy another bottle. Bourbon santa has a conspiracy theory that remus is just blented bottles thamgp couldn't get sold. I tent to agree. I thought it would be interesting to mix my 2 with belle mead cask strength to proof it up a bit and tease out other flavors. It tasted like i was eating wood chips. My remus 2 is on my most disappointing list.
