Long live NSCN! Had there been no NSCN then nagas would have been reduced to third class citizens of India. A little respect we enjoy today is all because of the resolute political stand of NSCN leadership.

The amount of hatred against the Nagas outside Nagaland is really disheartening. For the record, I am a Tangkhul from Manipur. Let me tell you, no one likes IM or other Naga factions even among Nagas in Manipur per se. Their credibility has surely been eroded over time due to various unethical activities and unfair practices which directly interfere with our daily lives. These are facts that no one can deny. I understand where you are coming from when you say that almost all IM's significant posts are occupied by Tangkhuls, which is quite unfair from a rational point of view, because we believe Nagas national organization should be represented by all tribes proportionately. That being said, are there qualified personnels from other tribes who are being omitted by the dominant tribe(s), preventing them from climbing up the ladder in the hierarchy? Are there no credible candidates produced by other tribes? Or do the intellectuals from other tribes simply show no interest joining the movement? These are the questions that need to be answered. It is important to mention that the IMs' post of President and Vice-president are held by non-Tangkhuls. Personally, I can neither prove nor deny this discrepancy because I simply have no record or statistics for it. I come from a relatively small village near Ukhrul that has little to no representation within the national organizations. Taxes, extortions, and various unethical means are paramount, and they have become real roadblocks for infrastructures, small businesses, developmental projects, and other financial activities. This is a serious concern because the revenue collected is simply pocketed by a handful of officers and not utilized for the intended cause. But guess what? This is not limited to Nagaland alone. Nagas from outside Nagaland are equally victims of these ill-practices (not justifying one bit). Despite all this, I still believe in the idea of the Naga movement because, unlike Naga leaders (people), it is genuine, unique, just, and honorable. It represents the very idea of Nagalim. Luckily, the Indian government has been welcoming and embracing the idea of a peaceful resolution through political dialogues. I am quite surprised that under the leadership of Isak (deceased) and Muivah, they have been holding onto the fundamental principles left behind by the great leader, the father of the Nagas, Phizo. You may think they are naïve, but believe me, this is what the character of true leaders is: non-negotiable and uncompromising when it comes to the rights of the people. In fact, IM is the reason a cease-fire was brokered and convinced the Indian government of the uniqueness of Nagas, which extends to all of greater Nagalim. Do you think this was an easy task, bargaining with billions of Indians? Think again! You may dislike or even hate certain leaders, but let’s give credit where it is due. Every leader could have known, when the cease-fire was signed in 1997, that there would be peace. Since the realization that military or violent pursuits did not work, the two parties (India and the Naga) decided that thenceforth, the path to Naga resolution would be based on peaceful political talks. Since then, everyone knows that it has been a slow and laborious process, but not completely static. I would argue that aside from the cease-fire, the 2015 Framework Agreement is a milestone in the history of the Nagas. Though we don’t know much about its content, somehow the gentleman has shed some light on it. When Phizo started the movement in the early 1950s, Nehru promised greater autonomy, but Phizo rejected. Despite repeated appeals, his demands were not heeded by Nehru, then, he went underground and arm conflict had started ever since 1953. The 1975 agreement (Shillong Accord) with the three primary points, was an outright insult to the Naga people. Earlier, they had been offered a helicopter, and this time, after severe bloodshed, they were offered a shabby car?? This was utterly unacceptable! Unfortunately, the following 2-3 decades after the Shillong Accord, there had been horrendous violence, killings, rapes, crime against women and children, betrayals, etc., within the Naga factions and necessarily with the Indian armies, until 1997. History has not been kind to any of us. We have done unthinkable things to each other. It’s too late to point fingers at each other because not a single one of us is innocent anymore. The important thing here is that the very honor and decision our ancestors took; underpinning the unique history of Nagas, in the past, before and after the Indian independence, that Nagas then, and future generations have every right to decide for their future. THIS IS NOT AN ORDINARY SACRIFICE. Let’s never forget that. Our contemporary leaders have not disappointed us either in that regard, they have been standing firm on that ground since the movement started to this day. Against this background, the narrative being associated with some people in Nagaland, claiming that they are better off with Indian Union, is not only compromising their own rights and identity but also betraying the fundamental principles their ancestors bravely fought and laid down their lives for. Don’t be mistaken, we are not anti-India. As a matter of fact, we are all Indians today, no matter the circumstances. However, the point I am making is not whether or not we should remain in the Indian Union. Just because you like to eat apples does not necessarily mean you dislike oranges. And therefore, some Indians wondering why we would not join Indian Union is irrelevant, because apart from deciding our own fate, all these years of negotiation with the Indian government and still has not given up (unlikely in future) is also about staying true to what our fundamental principles, honor, integrity, and values that gives meaning to the cause. I am sure India will not want to be associated with certain community that abandons when you are poor but wants friendship when you are prosperous. Living in such circumstances is not easy, but let’s admit the real struggle has been borne by the Nagas outside Nagaland. Unlike you (Nagaland), we have no political autonomy in Manipur, Assam, Arunachal and the worst in Burma. We are minorities in our own land. Do you have any idea how hard it is for us? Not only do we have this Naga issue on our shoulders, but also have to wrestle with Kukis and Meiteis as well, to survive. The end result is the exodus of our youths to the Indian cities for education, jobs, and various opportunities. I too am one of those living outside the northeast, working for minimum wage. To make matter worse, some parts of our land are being encroached upon by other settlers, which will be very problematic in the future. I am not trying to play the victim card here, but let’s face the fact. It would have been fairly easy for Nagas in Manipur to put up a fair fight for our rights with the Indian government and other groups in the state, but that would amount to carving out another Nagaland (which happened in 1963) leaving behind our Naga brothers and sisters in Assam, Arunachal and Burma. You may call us ‘righteous’ but we have transcended that and will not betray our own kind, anywhere else. Many national leaders have said and implored, since the uniqueness of the Nagas has been recognized, so shall the resolution be complimentarily unique and honorable on both sides along with all the stakeholders in the region (NE). The exact way and method of aligning the federal structure are unclear, but we somehow have a sense of what our leaders have been negotiating throughout the years - shared sovereignty but outside the purview of the Indian constitution. All of this has been attributed to the uniqueness of the Nagas and our history. Believe me, our leaders have been gifted with great wisdom and knowledge, and they are equally competent enough to reason with the tallest leaders of Indian side. After enduring all these sufferings, don't you think we deserve better? It took me nearly an hour to write this. If you made this far, thanks for reading. I am open to any sound and logical criticisms. Thanks again.

Hi, this was so beautifully written. How I wish this comment make it to a bigger platform. I would also like to add that there are people in Nagaland that actually understand what Naga political movement is and therefore, there is still a huge support for IM because they are the only faction that has hold on to the true principal and justice of Naga political movement so far. I am not being biased but that is the truth. Nikki is another group that cares about Naga integration. Isak Sumi is another but the rest? If they believe in a solution within the Indian Constitution... That is giving up our principle. I just want to add that, social media comments are more often a lot of toxic noise rather than substance.

I support and stand with NSCN IM . Here I would like to point in short. +NNC /Than/stand for sovereignty but get lost /now/ forever Peace camp somewhere in Kohima it going to be a century. +FGN Stand for Jubilee, means always they ask taxes in the name of national workers saying that they are older one among the Naga revolutionary. +NSCN was formed up from the above two group in the year 80S latter on NSCN split into two parties birth to SS Khaplang and Isaac & Muivah. After that killing eachother our own brother without mercy. +Also losing of Sovereign power which was left by our great great forefather. +Strike Like Child birth to child,,,,,,,, different types of government created A to Z into many small arms group without majority of entire Nagaland still surviving in a way of self-life style different people's and different aim some only for their benifit,, some become drugs addicted. Atleast NSCN IM stand for Sovereign till date- proud of it but not like another brothers many had been surrendered during conflict falling into Indian packages. So as we all new generation of the Naga people should give thanks to those who Sacrificed and currently Serving upholding of our principal Movement, the time is now in our hand to stand to decide to fullfill our dreams,, every Naga younger generation should Rise up against external control to Live freely in our own land ((Rainbow in a Blue Sky and Star Green, Yellow Red)) to success to achieve our goal. We recognize the role that the NSCN leaders play in people's lives and encourage them to approach their responsibilities with a mindset of promoting positive change and strengthening people's sense of identity and community. Rather than resorting to misconduct and promoting hatred as a means of maintaining power socially and politically, they should address social grievances that go beyond the issue at hand. we urge them to find ways to build a strong identity and trust amongst the people and foster unity for all Nagas in different geographical background. Hope this somehow helps you 👍👍

Media should also ask sometimes to NSCN-IM why the Naga MLAs in Manipur State never raise a question in Manipur Assembly for Naga political rights and settlement of Naga political solution

I don't understand why people have a problem with FA. It is evident that they have hold on to the root of Naga history. They have not accepted Indian Constitution. They are asking for a solution outside of Indian Constitution. This is the principal we the Nagas stood for in 1951 plebiscite and even before that. The "Competecy Clauses" that people have a problem with...according to their document, what I have understood is that the competency clauses contains, "India's acceptance that Naga issue is political & not law & order issue, two sovereign States to coexist & Nagas were never a part of Indian state". Basing on these competencies, they will have to start formulating a plan... Because FA is just a framework. So, the first demand to insert in the FA is "Flag & constitution" which is understandable for any 'sovereign' nation. Therefore, misinterpretation of FA is the problem. That is how I genuinely feel otherwise everyone should be supporting the FA. This is huge. It could give us a set up like EU.

Naga manu, we divided ourselves by accepting foreign invasion policies and fight with our own brothers and form as much as groups with self-styled, selfish - minded. Until and unless we are united no solution or freedom will achieved. I request all the fractional groups to stop collecting tax in the name of freedom struggle and let Naga businessmens and enterprineur expand.
