Excellent one! Unintended consequences pretty much are the rule here. In tornado alley in particular, the very processes and geographic features that allow supercell thunderstorms to form are also the reason it's not just another horse-latitude desert. As history has shown, the area is very prone to desertification. The only tornado-free Kansas may be a Kansas that can't grow food.
@jasoncarswell74585 жыл бұрын
Many people from outside the US (Paul included) also unfortunately seem to think that tornadoes are functionally or primarily limited to Tornado Alley. In actuality Dixie Alley in the Southern states produces just as many tornadoes as the Midwest despite the synoptic weather patterns being entirely different. The topography doesn't allow for nearly as much chasing or line-of-sight science to be conducted so few researchers want to write a bland paper without pretty pictures.

Operation Popeye may also have caused a POW rescue mission in North Viet Nam to fail. American intelligence discovered a POW camp near Son Tay, using the old Buffalo Hunter reconnaissance drones. A rescue force was assembled and trained and during a good weather period it struck. Only to find the camp recently abandoned. Additional drone flights and satellite footage showed the nearby river had overflowed well past it's usual flood stage and was almost to the walls of the camp. The rescue force was never told about Operation Popeye and it possible effects on the area.

Excellent video, as a guy that storm chases for funises, I can attest to the fact that getting a mobile microwave unit in place at the right time would be very difficult. Another problem with the mobile microwave units, any tornadoes they want to zap would naturally be near towns and homes and industry, which makes using the microwave idea at all to be problematic. Far easier to mandate building codes that withstand tornadoes than trying to try run around zapping a fast moving and unpredictable target like a supercell thunderstorm. I also noticed you used a slide describing tornadogensies with the RFD model but newer simulation work done on massive super computers is starting to change the established theories of tornadoes on it's head. If you are interested in learning about the hottest in tornado meteorology I highly suggest checking out Dr.Leigh Orfs work on the topic. He has a youtube channel with talks about the simulations they have been doing as well as animations from the simulations; which quite frankly are stunning.

The car pollution seeding clouds is so true. Everyday in the summer after work and school lets out and afternoon traffic is over or just about over. It will rain for a few minutes or sometimes we will get a lightening or thunder storm but no rain for about 15-20 minutes. Then eventually blows over. I noticed this a few years ago just paying attention to the sky at different times every day. After all the traffic was over I would notice these darker plumes of very small and thin clouds start rising higher in sky while the pretty white fluffy original clouds will be much higher in sky as if they are the natural real layer of clouds. Eventually the darker small plumes start joining together until the whole sky and sun is covered and then comes a storm.

The biggest issue I have with this is that if clouds form, it is because of the evaporation of water that condenses at high level. This can then fall as rainfall at another location. By cloud seeding, this rain that may have fallen over another area then falls in the area they want it to thus creating possible weather issues elsewhere. Now this may be fine if its only done in one area, but when multiple countries do it, you then create major weather issues globally and isn't this what we are seeing now. A "fake" climate change created by weather modification in a variety of countries which then creates issues everywhere including temperature changes, decreased ice in the south and north pole, droughts which seem to go forever, huricanes and cyclones that seem far worse than ever before. We seem as humans to think we can bugger around with stuff with no consequences, but clearly we are feeling the effects.. It has to stop..

What's really weird is claiming snowfall in the western U.S. is decreasing the same year when there was more snow than in the last 30 years. People were skiing in the Sierras and in Colorado in late July. It was also the wettest year on record in the U.S..

Humans need to just stop trying to control the weather. We're doing more damage to the environment trying to do so.

@@ac.creations the earth goes through spells, we can either let it do its thing, or do more damage trying to alter it in negligible ways anyways. Its not like 10% extra rain in an already existing rain cloud is worth the time, money and effort in the chemicals or dry ice used. Bombs and microwaves arent a good way to stop storms. We just arent technically advanced enough yet to alter it without doing more damage to it in the process

Joe Blow -5 years off of everyone’s lives doesn’t matter for the most part because they’re past reproductive age, whereas you can’t say that about a hurricane or typhoon. If we’re speaking survival of humanity that is.

@@grayishcolors right at 7 billion people on earth, we can afford to lose a few to a storm here and there. Dont take this the wrong way, we already have to many people on earth, thats why most farms use genetic engineering and steroids and stuff to either increase crop growth or yield. If we had less people then we wouldnt have to do that. Sometimes i wish thanos was real. Lol id totally take a 50/50 shot.

Thanks for this precise overview of prospects for local geoengineering. It would help if you could do a similarly far-reaching and detailed discussion of the prospects for global geoengineering. You did touch here on one form of it, but there are many others, and greater depth would be helpful on the pros and cons, and what kinds of further research and testing are needed.

@Blackjack Videos In 1952, the RAF carried out cloud seeding 'experiments' which killed 35 in the Devon town of Lynmouth. Deadly flood blamed on RAF rainmakers: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1339046/Deadly-flood-blamed-on-RAF-rainmakers.html 'The day they made it rain' - BBC Radio 4 documentary on Weather Modification, broadcast on 30th August 2001. On August 15th 1952, one of the worst flash floods ever to have occurred in Britain swept through the Devon village of Lynmouth. Thirty five people died as a torrent of 90 million tons of water and thousands of tons of rock poured off saturated Exmoor and into the village destroying homes, bridges, shops and hotels. The disaster was officially termed "the hand of God" but new evidence from previously classified government files suggests that a team of international scientists working with the RAF and UK met office had been experimenting in the area with artificial rainmaking between August 4th and August 15th. These experiments are known as Operation Cumulus, or Operation Witchdoctor as known by RAF pilots. Other classified documents on the trials have gone missing, but eye witnesses and people involved have told their story for this BBC Radio Four' Document programme'. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqKoi59_YrWMr80 Imagine what they could do/are doing now....... weathermodificationhistory.com/

Yet again another excellent video delivered concisely. Was wondering on the back of this one about the anxiety caused some years ago about the 'Gulf Stream / North Atlantic Drift' cooling down which would have the obvious knock on effect to the weather patterns coming across the Atlantic to the UK and Europe. Predictions of 'Nuclear Winter' type conditions were alluded to... in actual fact a programme on Nuclear Winter as a result of nuclear war would be a good topic IMHO.
