Always blows my mind how you guys have open jaw contactors . Ours ( EU ) are protected with plastic , it's much harder to accidentally touch the power lines . Still possible don't get me wrong but much harder. Always nice to see how they do it in other parts of the world.

Another great one. I had system Friday night for smoked meat open case low charge. Couldn’t find leak anywhere so have to go back and recover n pressure test. But 26lbs low and almost certain it’ll hold about 75lbs of 404. Gotta love grocery stores! Ha

Curious HVAC guy leaning toward the huge ancient multi fan multi circuit condenser on the roof just because it’s much harder to find the leaks there and we have looked multiple times. System has 1”1/8 lineset and ultra long lineset plus huge receiver otherwise wouldn’t be nearly as much charge. Praying it isn’t in the lineset ran Thru the concrete floor with ten other runs from compressor room because idk how that will get found or repaired yet. Guess we will find out.

The pinch in the copper is what is called a frost pinch happens on the outlet of the valve we use to get them on flare valves before sweat in valves driers etc. we're starting to come into the refrigeration picture.They do make frost proof flare nuts

I just got the hot block, it seems like ground up shop towels, its missy and sometimes hard to pack it around items without losing a lot, how did you like the wet rag stuff? better, worse, the same. FYI... you're going to hell for using the 1/4 hoses and the micron gauge placement. LoL Good Video!

Hey Is it for learning purposes you spend so long time with the leak detector on the condensing unit.. I mean if the system is completely flat you will see oil where the leak is.. And i love the way you take the viewers hand and guide us through what you do.. If someone can't learn from you.. Well there is no hope for that person. Oil traps. What is the rule of thumb were you are.. In DK we say every 2 hight meters

Christian Sommer don’t always see oil especially on condenser side where you have mainly high pressure vapor. Have seen many of these leak on the left side of that condenser where he was getting hits and yet no visual signs of a leak.

@@jphvac5725 I know you don't always see oil, but when you see the amount of dust on the unit, let's just say i was 99% sure the the leak wasn't there.. But i understand that as a learning video, that you will start from point A and slowly work through to point Z.. On a set up like that the money is on a leak on the indoor unit.. At least that's my experience.

Sometimes solenoid in condensers will cause your liquid line to pump down also. Just depends where solenoid is located. Confused a new tech at our company he condemned a evaporator cause he thought there was no charge in system when he gauged up and it was pumped down and it was just a bad temp control in the box.

Oh yeah thatll get a new guy- I remember when I first started out I front seated the service valves on a condensing unit once thinking they where opened all the way, I powered the unit on and of course got nothing so I condemned that compressor-- luckily a senior tech helped me and showed me my mistake, lol

Forgive my ignorance but I always thought that if you take the voltage across any load, you should be able to read the voltage the load is under, whether is 24V, 120V, 240V etc. and a solenoid is a load. You mention in your video that the 24V and 120V is different. I am I little confused. I’ll appreciate if you take the time to educate me a bit in this subject. Thanks.

We used to use a old gym sock and fill it full of ice and wrap it to the txv for a backup to the other weld chill on the other side of the txv . Paranoid I guess.

Your torch is also called a smoke key. I have yet to see a lock it wouldn’t open. When it comes to safety don’t trust a breaker you can’t see. A lock without a key is a safety issue and should be removed.

thats a good question- since soldering is done at a lower temp than brazing id say you could but it wouldnt go well, I assume the solder would flow out of that joint before you ever got the silver to stick-- this would make for a good little experiment

O we here it's very much forbidden to use Freon as a tracer gas , it used to be common practice but it's in the past now . What we do is we use a mixture of nitrogen and very little hydrogen , that comes in a green painted top nitro tank , and we do have newer electronic leak detectors that beep for both refrigerants and hydrogen . I think it's much better this way , because you don't vent out refrigerant , better for the planet .

Interesting- so your leak detectors sense a lack of oxygen then? I wonder how they work exactly - yeah alot of other countries are like yours, we however seem to be behind the times on these things. Whats the max amount of R290 you can have in a system, here its 55 grams I belive

@@curioushvacguy6876 I just looked it up and I'm starting to get a headache now . From what I understand , it's 1.5 kg per circuit , or 1kg if in an underground floor . But there's another reg that seems to allow more , depending on the surface and what not , but I'm not sure I understand correctly 🙄 The leak detector detects Freon and hydrogen as well , so the tracer nitrogen we use trips the sensor . The only downside is that it can beep when it smells glycol , or sometimes when you blow on the sensor , bit if you're careful it works pretty well .
