I love the theory surrounding this video! ❤️ However, high density is not only for people with thick hair. Hair density and hair thickness are different. Thickness is the width of your hair strand. I have mostly fine (some medium) low porosity, high density hair. People assume I have thick hair. However, every stylist that has done my hair always commented how they didn’t realize how much hair I have. They said they thought I had thick hair. They preferred more strands for whatever reason. To figure out ones hair density. Wash your hair and let it dry with no product or a light leave-in. Once dry. Put it in a ponytail. Measure the circumference of the ponytail. Low density is less than 2”. Medium density is 2-3” and high density is 4”+. Another way is how you explained. If you can see the scalp, it’s low density and if you can’t see the scalp at all it’s high density.

Found your Twistout 201 series after watching your Blue Magic twistout. Decided to look at your porosity video and decided to do the hair strand in water porosity test. Washed my hair like I normally do and took a clean strand and dropped it in the water. It stood on top of the water for hours. I know it didn’t take that long to see my hair is low porosity, but I left it there to make sure. My hair is also high density...lots on my head! To further complicate matters, my hair is about 40% gray. Gray is stubborn! However! I tried your method of washing and applying leave-in in the shower, as well as used butters/creams (As I Am Double Butter Cream) and an oil (applied last) and twisted. once dry I took the twists out and separated and twirled the ends as you advised. OMG!!! It turned out PERFECT! Even the gray was better at behaving! My hair is SO moisturized and shiny! The gray is a shiny silver. I know the more I do this method, the better trained my hair will be. Sorry for the long post, but THANK YOU for your videos and knowledge. After 5 years being natural, I’m finally loving my hair! I did learn that coconut oil is too light for my hair. So in search of an oil that works.

I'm rewatching this video and finally understand why Adwoa Beauty Products work so well on my hair. The products are not to thick or to runny and since I'm Normal-High Porosity with Fine Strands and Medium-High Density the consistency of these products are perfect.

This is such a powerful video I love it. I had been wearing twists for a year, and I have to say that they were never perfect when the take down time came. I would change something every other week. I am taken back with the video. I never understood the different products combo until now. Thank you so much! This is gold!

Having been natural for about 8 years. I love that you explain the letter and number, DON'T blame the product sis, take time to research and understand versus watching influencers trying to match "hair type". I am low perosity high density. I have to use heat, I have to work in products, it'll sit wet for 2 days and MOISTURE and SEALANTS and BUTTERS are my friends.
@quelsplace59564 жыл бұрын
It's definitely about the technique and knowing what works for your hair. I have fine, low density, low porosity hair. I do have some high density sections but I cater to the low density. I actually prefer butters on my hair because I like the heavier feel with the current length of my hair. I also feel as if my twist outs come out less frizzy because the butter helps my hair hold its moisture. The past few months I've stopped using oil to seal because although it sealed well, it would not allow me to add moisture if I needed to refresh. So the butter acts as my cream and 'sealer' and it's working well for me.

My hair has gone through a lot of changes from transitioning to lots of stress causing my hair to fall out from medium to low density. It’s on the mend now growing and thickening up! I’m really excited to learn how to properly care for it. Looking forward to seeing the next installment. Can’t wait!!! 😘👍🏽

im confused! My hair dries quick while im applying, so that means my hair is high? BUT when I did the hair in the water test all my hairs floated to the top! So that represents low right?! I told you Im confused! : (

Loved this video. Thanks for the education! I believe I am medium to high porosity with medium density hair. My hairs takes about 4 -6 hours to dry depending on what product I have in my hair. I have been using heavier butters to style, but now I think I'll try a leave-in and hair milk to see if that gives me better, less weighed down results. Love your content...I always find myself wanting to smash that button down below, even though I already have.

Love this video. My hair is medium porosity. Not sure what my density is. I started putting my leave in while in the shower and have seen a difference. I use butters and creams to seal in moisture. My hair gets dry. My hair will do good with oils when I twist it the first day. Then after that I will use oil. Olive oil makes my hair dry. Castor oil is good on my hair But certain oils I notice makes my hair dry. Using The Mane Choice Multi-Vitamin Scalp- Nourishing Growth oil. And my hair loves it. I recently went back to grease because my hair loves it too. I started using a ginger and coconut treatment since 2019 to thicken and grow my hair. And have seen a huge difference in my hair.

I wish I had one density. This is my #1 struggle. 🥺😔 I'm so jealous of yall high density girls. My hair is low density around some areas and medium density in certain areas. My front is longer because of this and it looks crazy.

Okay I think I’m high porosity, but my question is are we measuring how fast our hair can dry With or without product?? Cause without product my hair drys extremely fast, like I have to use a spray bottle to keep it wet while I do twist outs.
@jenken10254 жыл бұрын
Jasmine Sorensen my hair is also high porosity. It dries fast without product, but also dries much faster when my products are applied compared to someone with low porosity.

My girl’s and I have been watching your videos for the past month or so. I have learned so much about my hair since watching you. Today I learned the density of my hair. You and I both share low porosity and high density hair. So far I have been using creams and butters and grapeseed oil in my hair. I need to find a leave in conditioner, protein and cleansing or clarifying shampoo and masks for my hair. I have trimmed my hair as you’ve suggested. Thanks for all that you do #CurlieCrys

Hello sis I just started watching your videos about 1 month ago and just want you to know how inspiring you are and funny too. So I have medium porosity and thick hair. When I wear a twist out I use Cantu leave in conditioner, then I apply African Shea Butter 100% Natural and then seal with olive oil. My twist turn out pretty good, but by the end of the day my hair feels and looks dry, any suggestions would be most helpful.

When you rinse well do the final rinse, some people say rinsing with cold water is better for the final rinse?😳 Am I suppose to do my final rinse with colder water?
4 жыл бұрын
It all depends on your hair and you porosity tbh. Like Crys said when your low porosity you wanna rinse your deep conditioner out with warm water to prevent frizz. However I find that rinsing my low porosity hair with cold water actually helps defrizz my hair🤷🏾♀️
@judis91844 жыл бұрын
She said it’s better to use warm water for the final rinse if you have low porosity hair. It encourages the cuticles to open so the leave in will seep into your strands. It really works.

Do you have any recommendations for hooded dryers? I’m scared to use heat in my hair. That was the reason for my big chop. 😩
@denyshadials57024 жыл бұрын
All hood dryers are indirect heat, which are actually beneficial for your hair. They won’t damage your hair like a flat iron or blow dryer. But you will get more use out of a hood dryer with a variety of settings (i.e. cold, medium, hot) as opposed to just one or two. Also recommend getting one with a round hood as opposed to oblong. The height of the hoods adjust better for some reason. Remember it’s not the heat itself that’s usually causing the damage, it’s the combo of heat + tension/stretching. Curls aren’t meant to be stretched, so, naturally, they have a limit.
