Hi there beautiful! Okay, first let me just say I'm excited bc I actually discovered you/your socials (through a blog) during the beginning of quarantine, about a year ago. This was also while I was (re)discovering that I have curly/wavy hair?! I decided to grab my 1st bottle of curl cream (and argon oil) from T.J Maxx, I already had some type of drugstore mousse, and I knew I had smooth beautiful tight curls on my underneath layer...and so it began...my trip down the rabbit hole to the CGM..I feel like I've watched every video, read every blog, and just obsessed over any info that I could find..til the next thing I know I'm back to work, obviously not spending as much time anymore on my routine or lack there of..I kept going back and forth as far as just wash and go then pull up when dry for work since I spend 6 days a week there anyway. Then I'll decide to go back to a cute curly style and start impulsively buying a s+*t ton of products that I quickly realize are NOT quite right for my hair type!?!? 🤦♀️ Which I think is between 2c and maybe even 3a in some areas of my head 🤷♀️ The problem is, I have very thin, fine, all over color/highlights every 3 months or so for the past year. I love my salon appointments but not just for my hair...it's an actual girls day that I get to spend with my bff. Anyway, my deepest apologies for rambling doll! My point (was) is to ask about one of the products from this video...olaplex 3. I bought some about 2 weeks ago, but I've honestly been too intimidated to (try to) even use it on my (very fragile broken) hair 😔 Just overthinking the whole process...Also I have a hair appointment coming up in about a week. I DO believe I would benefit tremendously from a haircut for curly's. Especially since watching your video and the first tip was exactly that specifically! I'm just so unsure of WHAT else to do!?! I know I'm older than you as far as my coloring is concerned...lol 😉 I do NEED/WANT to keep my grays covered! Any suggestions are much appreciated queen. By the way, thank you for ALL you do!BIG thank you for your commitment! I know I continuously find myself coming back to you/your channel/blogs bc of how much easier you make it for us beginners, and especially for indecisive gals like me!

I prefer the Olaplex results because of the bigger curl clumps. I have some Curlsmith products and like them. The only at home product that has ever made me think, “Wow, I can really see the difference!” is Ecoslay’s Orange Marmalade Flax Seed gel. That is my number one CGM product.

I definitely see a difference between the two. The curl bond is definitely tighter. I am very new to having curly hair. I have had straight hair most of my life but slowly but surely over the past few years after going through menopause my hair has gotten curlier and curlier. I have very fine and thin hair and I've been trying everything and since I found you I'm starting to understand how to finally take care of my hair. I have never used a protein product on my hair unless rice water counts. So I would be very interested in trying this.

They both look great in your hair! My hair LOVES the Curlsmith Bond Salve and likes the Olaplex #3. Thanks for the tip about the protein properties in each and about needing extra moisture after a protein mask.

Love seeing the comparisons. I've been a curly girl for 70 years. My hair has gone through some changes, a little thinning with age. I've been wanting to try the curlsmith products, but a bit out of my price range.so would love to be considered.

I have recently (over thanksgiving break) started my Curly Girl Method. All my life I have has curly hair but never known how to Manage it. I lost my mom young so had to teach myself. I’m a middle school teacher and coach so my life is very busy. I needed a change and made a commitment to myself to take better care of my curls. I am so excited to try curlsmith products, as I have heard so many good things. You are the first person who I found and have kept up with to start and carry through my process. Thanks so much and I can’t wait to see where it goes!

I would love to receive this product (who wouldn’t when it’s been loved by so many trusted hair gurus) but I’m kinda disappointed at the amount of influencers who have hopped on the Curl Smith sponsorship train (a bit reminiscent to Deva Curl, I think). Don’t get me wrong, I’m not doubting anyone’s authenticity and get that coin sis, but with at least eight ladies that I’ve subscribed to coming out with the same video comparing this product to Olaplex at the same time, I’m a bit confused. I feel like there was this rush to promote the product right at launch date and all the reviews were sparkling, saying it performs the same, if not better than the industry’s leading product for years. Of course I’d want to get one, but the price is UP THERE. (And I’m now broke from buying an Olaplex, which has MUCH less product.) I know I have agency over my own wallet, but as a consumer I feel bombarded all at once with the need to buy this product so I can have the healthiest hair possible, which is what all of us want, right? There’s nothing wrong with speaking about a product that you and the other influencers absolutely love AND getting paid to tell your followers how much you love it, but I just miss the days when people used to spread awareness on products in their own time and not have to make videos promoting specific products in a deadline-seeming fashion (but that might be my naïve, non-content creator self talking haha). Thanks for another informative video, though. You and those other influencers helped save my hair!💖 This may make me a sellout lol, but my email for the giveaway is: Aroma.Rose2784@gmail.com

I totally agree with you! I no longer buy products off of recommendations from an influencer before I was going broke 😆 I personally think these 2 products shouldn't be compared because Olaplex n°3 is not a protein based treatment. And curl smith contains lots of protein. I love Olaplex and will continue using it because it works!
@kayarmstead97114 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with this! On NEw Years Day everyone was doing a paid video for this product. And seeing all influencers do it is kinda making me not trust what everyone is saying. Not to mention they all have compared it to olaplex
@Dinoxdeath4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I feel kinda the same. It doesn't make it any less "legit" if it's what the person says is what they experience, but in the back of my brain I hear a little voice saying that all mask-y products promise the same thing but Olaplex is actually one of a kind with their patented stuff you know? I don't really get influenced much - most products aren't available in my country anyway - but others might and it just makes me really curious. I used to follow quite some beautybloggers back in the day and this also always happened with them the second ie morphe launched something new. Or reviewing palettes that were obviously poor quality and you'd hear small channels talk about it honestly and all the big ones yelled like it was the most revolutionary thing. Anyway. My hair doesn't like protein a lot but it reacts very well to Olaplex, but I won't rule it out. There's a reason I'm here after all :p

Hi there! Thanks for your thoughtful comment. ❤️ I was excited to see a similar product come out that was a larger bottle for roughly the same price, and the same objective (to repair broken hair bonds). I began testing it a couple months ago and wanted to share it with you once it was released because I genuinely loved my results. I realize that many other influencers are reviewing it, but I've actually enjoyed seeing how other hair types are using it and how it works for them. We're all excited to post about a new product when it launches, like this one did the 1st of the year. Please don't ever feel like you NEED to get anything that I share. I always hope that my info-based videos and tips can be applied to your routine with what you have on hand. Much ❤️

@@finecurls2291 That's great! I also love Olaplex and will continue to use both. 😊 This is a bond treatment comparison which is why I compared the 2, because they both claim to repair damaged hair with different methods/ingredients. Product ingredients are always going to be different and unique. ❤️

I started wearing my hair curly about 2 months ago when I watched one of your videos and was encouraged to try wearing it curly again. I haven't worn it curly since high school..that Was the late '80s!!! Lol I just never could get it to look smooth and frizz-free... With the information you provided I was able to do that!!! Thank you thank you!!! I have not tried any CurlSmith products But I'm interested to do so. I went through cancer treatment in 2017 and lost all my hair. Although it came back in curly it's much thinner. So learning to wear it curly has helped immensely by giving it the illusion of more volume. Thank you again for providing easy to follow thorough information in your videos 👍👍👍😍😍😍😍😍

During my early days of finally deciding to take care of my curls I really struggled to find a youtuber that had hair like me. Everyone I came across seemed to have thick, full and long curls while I didn’t. I am so glad that I found you!! I also have shoulder length low density 3a/3b curls just like yours and I honestly aspire to pull off the fullness that you do in every video. As soon as I saw your video about how to cover your scalp, I couldn’t stop watching and had to subscribe. You give great advice for curly girls like us - I feel like we’re really underrepresented on KZbin!! I wanted to say thanks for that & please continue doing more videos that apply to us! Maybe some hairstyles for us? Also, I would love to try curlsmith products though I find them a bit expensive (I usually go with more affordable drugstore brands like Shea moisture and Cantu). Ive heard a lot of great things though, and I wonder if it’s worth it. If I win the giveaway, my email address is cristalledj@gmail.com. See you in the next vid!

Both results looked amazing. This is the 2nd comparison I saw and Curlsmith did awesome in both. More shrinkage with Curlsmith which I like. Opalex results had more volume and curl clumps. I have tried Opalex but have never tried any Curlsmith product. Would love to try this bond builder. The new product line sounds perfect for my fine, high porosity hair that loves protein. I've never tried either product. But hearing that Curlsmith is less expensive and is in a bigger container kind of makes me lean that way. Although I do want to try Olaplex. I've been doing the CGM for about a year and honestly am still not sure exactly what my hair likes and dislikes. I'm in the process of growing it out from the pixie cut it's in in my profile picture so I'm not cutting it very often. So I definitely think it could benefit from one of these two products. Thanks for the side by side.

Might go try out a mini of the styling soufflé after hearing so many curly girls talk about it. Obviously, the curlsmith protein line you use when you need a protein treatment every few weeks bc of protein overload, but if you wanted to try olaplex #3 how often should you use it since it doesn't have protein ingredients in it? Not sure if it's just me but I'm a little skeptical about the Bondsmith Bond Curl in terms of Protein overload regards to long term usage. Olaplex can be used once a week without worrying about an imbalance. I've used Olaplex twice with extremely dramatic results. My curls going from 2B/2C to 3A after 1 treatment. I have healthy hair but I think I had too much moisture. Still U wasn't expecting those results.

Yes that is one thing I wrote about on the blog post summary, is how you have to be careful with a protein treatment, versus Olaplex that says it can be used more frequently. They both gave great results!

Just started my CGM transition and I have tried Olaplex. It will be interesting to be able to compare how Curlsmith works on my 2B-3A hair.

Going to get a bottle of curl smith tomorrow. I know you did it off camera, but what deep conditioner did you use?

I wish I have such beautiful curls like that. My hair is so messy, so kinky, and I don't know how to start managing it.

Yeah ive been testing those. I like them! I thought it may be too much protein in one wash for my hair if i use all 3.

This looks really interesting (if expensive... :( ) I don't have damaged hair but I have extremely fine hair. I've heard mixed messages about protein and fine hair. Would you say protein helps finer hair?
