THIS STORY:
Galeyville was named after John H. Galey, who was an oil man from Pennsylvania. The town had a very short life, it only lasted 2 years. The post office was established January 6, 1881 and discontinued May 31, 1882. When the town died, scavengers moved in quick and took everything. The smelter was moved to Benson and many of the buildings were relocated just to the south, to the town of Paradise.
Galeyville once had 500 residents, but then in short order, was no more.
The town today would be all but forgotten, if not for being known for the headquarters for the likes of some infamous outlaws. This was the headquarters for Curly Bill Brocious, Johnny Ringo (Ringgold), and many other badmen who are listed below.
It was a perfect hideout for stolen cattle, so they lived among the miners and made this their retreat and hideout.

The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

I am always in awe of your findings, extensive research, and astute knowledge as a Curator. Your knowledge as a pilot is evident as Little Jimmy soars over the terrain. The episode harkens back to your Canadian expeditions, adventurous spirit, and formidable knowledge as a consummate outdoorsman. Thank you so much for taking us on a ride into The Wild West. Outlaws always have these names that sound like outlaws. I think in those days I would have asked them what their name was before becoming their friend lol. Those are some rocky roads you traveled! You have so much patience and perseverance it amazes me. I can't believe you found that cemetery! Beautiful mountain view too!! That cemetery looked like it could be a little rough to walk in. Good shoes are a necessity with all the rocks around. This cemetery looks to be in pretty good shape. I'm happy to see that, especially way out there. I think you're the greatest storyteller I have ever known. These legendary stories seem to change a little here and there over the decades, but the meat of the story usually stays the same. So even though we don't have all the answers it's still worth telling. Thanks Ron! Great job!! And good seeing you again!

Hi Ron! I love your western stories, especially the Indian ones. They have such atmosphere, the music combined with your stories that bring the characters to life. You will have to come to Western Australia, we have a long history of ghost towns, cemeteries and Gold. Gold is still mined here, many people employed in the industry. In the old days people died of typhoid fever from bad water and the cemeteries tell the story. Enjoy your holidays!

We loved visiting Nevada. Went to Virginia City. Spent most of a day walking around the huge cemetery there. I just love looking at all the memorials and wondering about the people who made them. We saw one in Virginia City about a set of twins and one had passed. The epitaph was very beautiful on the stone. “Two stars lit up the twilight sky, we watched them through the night but with the dawn the twin was gone, vanished in the night” 😢

check out the portal area near paradise, its not only beautiful but it has lots of cattle rustling and native american history. Theres also an apache museum just to the east before you head into the mountains that contains geronimos bow and arrows with original quiver. Next door is a rattlesnake exhibit that houses dozens of live rattlesnakes, its pretty cool. Theres also a really old pioneer cemetery in the mountains just past portal. One of my favorite areas in arizona.

I wonder, is this the Ringo in the Loren Green Song? Thanks for the videos, my wife and I spent some of our best years together in a used Class A Motor Home traveling the Southwest, primarily in Arizona and New Mexico. We began our love of the desert when I was a young soldier stationed at Fort Bliss Texas after returning from Vietnam, so when we were both retired and had some free cash to use, we bought the motor home and headed South. It was a wonderful life, we spent 4 or 5 years together then came Covid, and I lost my lovely wife to the surrounding insanity that closed the hospital so they could not diagnose the cancer that ate her stomach, the docs treated her for an ulcer and when they finally did the test a year later it was so far gone that it took her from me. God how I do miss her, we had 51 years together, less the one year I did in Vietnam, those last few years in the RV were some of the happiest of our lives, I am so glad we had our adventures.
