Also i believe a lot kf type 4 girls struggle because they dont detangle often. I detangle with hands 2 times a week and with a brush once a week. If other hair types went months without detangling their hair (even those wjth straight hair) will struggle to detangle their hair. 4c hair is not difficult to manage at all. It's just neglected and given bad image.
@yarsudani Жыл бұрын
this exactly. straight/loose hair types brush their hair almost everyday, but most tight curly types go weeks/months before brushing and that’s what makes things so hard. they don’t realize their hair is locing/matting. washing 1-2 times a week is great!
@LethalLemonLime Жыл бұрын
there's also this weird obsession with type 4 girlies and shredding. If you're shedding 100 strands a day and haven't washed your hair for 3 weeks, that's 2,100 strands trapped in your head but for some reason people want to see the tiniest hairball.
@yveje9720 Жыл бұрын
This! I just started using the tangle teezer its a life saver. My hair is 4c medium strands and I have a lot of of it, so I only detangle on wash days about once a week. I agree its easier if you do it frequently when I wear box braids for a month detangling is always much harder. It’s not something I do often but I notice a big difference in the time it takes and the amount of shed hair I lose

yep, I get complimates of how fluffy and soft looking my hair looks and I have short 4C hair (7in), because I had to shave my hair off completely ayear ago because of how damage it was from all the tight styles,wigs, and lack of moisture (my hair line was literally receding and I lost my edges) mousturizing and properly detangling your hair is key, after that its so easy it takes me 5-30 min to do my hair depending on the style, and my hair as grown so much

As a 13 year old girl, I am so happy I came across this video. I have or had trouble seeing my self-worth, and seeing the beauty of my hair. My hair is short, the front part of my hair goes down to my eye, the sides of my hair goes down to my ears, and the back barely surpasses my neck. I’ve disliked when people compared my hair to others. I also have 4c hair, I have also disliked my shrinkage. After reading your Sudani Diaries ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Loving Your Natural Hair’ I noticed that the things I disliked about myself wasn’t nice to think of. I’m going to learn how to love the things I disliked about myself. Thank you so much, keep up the good work, and I am looking forward to seeing your next video’s. Bye💕! Have a good day❤️!

@AZIN-m6l24 күн бұрын

@proudlyigbo62019 ай бұрын
It really varies from individual to individual. My hair shrinks a lot and tangles easily so keeping it shrunken all the time can make it harder to detangle thus causing breakage. Some other people find it easier to take care of shrunken and the tension from always stretching cause breakage.

Loved the reference to Mystique! I tried using a scalp massager in circular motions when I was growing out a relaxer, and it tangled my hair so bad that I thought I might have to cut it all off. I can use a brushing or combing motion in one direction or, if I am pulling my hair, back and forth in one direction. But, circles are a definite no no for me. Also, I had to comb it after it was sectioned, corn-rolled and dried for several years. But, I’ve recently discovered the tangle teaser as a shower brush. So, I guess my point is, you may have to be gentler on your hair if you are transitioning or just have fine hair.

I'm not black but I have a miniature poodle with extremely kinky curly hair and this is how I always take care of her hair LOOOOL! It was interesting to watch you and compare. I have to brush her with a tangle teezer first, and then I go in with a harder bristle brush and get really close to the roots, once it is detangled, I soak her hair completely and then I shampoo. Rinse. Conditioner. Brush with tangle teezer. Rinse. Once she is out of the shower, I absorb the water in her hair with a microfiber towel or tshirt, let her shake herself off and then I absolutely MUST blow dry her hair while brushing with a tangle teezer. If I don't do that, her hair will air dry and become 10x curlier and matted. Once I have blow dried her hair and brushed with a tangle teezer, it becomes more silky and straight and fluffy rather than tight and curly. Then once it is completely dry and untangled, I go in again with the hard bristle brush, keeping it close to the roots, just to give it a last good detangling before I let her go. I will only do this once every 2-3 weeks. I love taking care of my girl's hair lol everyone told me it was a nightmare and hard to manage but I find it to be the most relaxing thing ever and I bond with her while doing it :')

Thank you for the recommendation of washing weekly. That will probably definitely help with my hair dryness. Excited to start truly caring for my natural hair.

Until I saw the comments on this video, I had no idea black people struggled with their relationship with hair! My heart breaks for you all, thank you so much for teaching people how to care for their hair! It’s truly stunning!!

SOME Black ppl (not all of us) struggle with their relationship with their hair because they find it difficult to handle and detangle.. but there's alot of us who have a very "romantic" relationship with our hair once we are taught how to properly do it and keep it MOISTURIZED.. You just need a good reminder or a teacher to help you, whether it be your mother teaching you, a friend, a hairdresser, or even KZbin.. I thank God my mother properly cared for my hair and at 23 its down my back.. but every so often I come back to KZbin to learn new methods or about better hair products for my type 4b/4c hair! (:

I just did a big chop a month ago after having locs for a year due to thinning from me scratching my scalp. I'm so sad they had to go but they were hanging on a strand of hair. Now I'm starting over again not really feeling confident, I'm so glad i found your video it gives me hope, I'm gonna follow your prices and give more care and love to my hair this time around. Much love from NC

Your point of saying your scalp is skin really stood out to me! If I scratch my skin I’ll break it same goes for my scalp!

This video was really helpful, thank you so much. I learned why it’s important to wash your hair regularly and I now understand why I could be struggling with scalp sensitivity. Could you please do a video showing how to wash/ keep your hair clean in braids because when I get braid I like to keep it for a long time especially when they were expensive but the my hair gets super dry and dirty.

glad it was helpful! as for braids, there are videos on youtube/tiktok of people washing their hair weekly in braids so definitely check those out! if i do get those hairstyles in the future i’ll be sure to show my washing routine then. 🫶🏾

Nice, you actually have 4c textured hair lol appreciate the video. Massive tip that will change your life guys, get a filter for your shower head. Before doing this try Washing your hair with bottled spring water(not purified).Try this once and watch your hair transform! Than go get a filter. The crap in the tap water really damages our hair. Honestly I was so impressed with what a difference spring water made for my hair...I strictly only use that on my hair, no tap water. But if that's too much for yall having a filter still makes a pretty big difference.

Yesss this was awesome and also keep in mind the importance of the products you use! I've been using Milan and it's moisturizing some others dry my hair out increasing tangles and hair loss!
