Hello! What is the difference between hair serum and hair oil? Also, are they any shea moisture products you would recommend based on their formulas?
@karenroache49862 жыл бұрын
I have been oiling my scalp for growth and moisture for many years now, since I stopped using hair grease. After watching a previous video of yours in which you said that it is more beneficial to oil at night, I have been oiling my hair only at night for almost a year or so, and I must say that I have seen a significant growth in my hair. I use a hair oil that has a mixture of avocado, grapeseed, castor, olive, amla, fenugreek, rosemary, licorice root, sweet flag, hibiscus, rose petals, alkanet, among other ayurvedic herbs. Thank you for the wealth of information that you share with us in this community.

I need to start incorporating oils into my haircare routine again. Because of the Twitter natural girlies who started the hair detox/no butters & no oils challenge, I stopped using oils and saw so much breakage in my hair. I would be afraid to come up with a product. I use to use wen as a co-wash then lock in the moisture with oil. I never got more compliments than using that. Not everything works for everyone but people are sue happy and now I must pay twice the amount. You could make a product that works for the majority of people but then you still need to deal with lawsuits.

@@timeforchange3786 people usually copy one another as well. I can not find anything on what was the cause of their hair fall from Wen or the FDA. If anyone knows what the FDA found please let me know. Could it be a case of not thoroughly cleansing the scalp. It is a cowash after all. Which is not wens fault entirely. They should put warnings on cowashes saying scalp must be properly clarified. Now that it is known. I loved Wen but I always switch my products around. Same with Divacurl. The girl with the initial Divacurl video had a zillion me-too comments underneath. If I ever made a product I would put warnings like the surgeon general.

Nice video! Oil never hurt our scalp when growing up. Oils are in the hairdressers that our parents put on our scalp and hair, and it stayed moisturized until the next wash day, every 2 weeks. Exactly, you don’t need much. My mom let the hair air dry until damp, then greased the scalp & hair lightly and brushed through. And that would be the only product used on wash day. I’m looking forward to trying hairdressers again but, not for my “wash n go”. Peace and blessings! 🙏🏾❤️

So when do we reap the benefits of oiling our scalp if we are to wash our hair daily. They even said they've seen faster growth doing that method. But I love oiling my scalp, say 3x a week, plus Asian cultures oil their scalp frequently and they're ok.

Who (if anyone) should oil their scalp? There's alot of conflicting information on KZbin University about this. I don't suffer from dandruff or dry scalp flakes. However, I have done a sebum production test where I went 2 weeks without washing my hair and tested my scalp with tissue to see how oily it was. The results was very little, if any sebum residue. As a result think I have low sebum production and my hair growth might benefit from oiling my scalp. However, I've also heard that oiling your scalp can inhibit your body's own natural sebum production. Would I benefit from oiling my scalp? Is their anything I could do to inscrease sebum production? What do you think? This might be a good idea for a video.

Very informative video. I have a question. I have a DIY mixture of oils that I use for my scalp with emphasis on my temples because they have thinning. I am not sure if it is the oil or something else but it seems like when I use oils on my temples my thinning looks worse after continuous use. Is it possible that oiling your scalp could have a negative effect on your hair, as in hair loss? I really only oil my scalp for hair growth, after washing my hair and making sure my scalp is cleansed I do not typically have an itchy or dry scalp. Your advice/response is greatly appreciated. I came here because I am trying to determine if I should stop oiling my scalp to see if I see a difference with my temple thinning. For reference I am natural and I do not wear any wigs, weaves or anything that would cause tension on my edges/temples any longer. Thank you! Sorry for the long comment.

I developed an itchy scalp for the first time in my life (28yo) after I moved to the US and was exposed to terribly hard water. One year later, it seems to have become a permanent condition, because my scalp was still itchy even after I spent one month back home, outside the US. Any tips on how to manage itchiness caused by hard water? I've already installed a shower filter that has helped with other symptoms (e.g. my dry hair had suddenly become oily at the roots), but the itchiness is not improving. Would tea tree oil help? What about the oil that your scalp naturally produces? Wen I massage my scalp I can feel the oiliness.

How do you treat a itchy scalp cause by oiling? I have tried several oils s on the scalp and boy does it itch. Please respond because when I oil my daughter hair too she experienced the same thing, excessive itching to the point she says mom don’t put oil on me

Ive noticed my scalp doesn't like oil? Is that normal? It gets really itchy after I apply it. I've noticed the best thing for me is to do an oil treatment nd just wash it off. Is that sufficient? Help🥺

Yes! That’s fine! Always do what your hair and scalp responds best to. ☺️

Thank you for the oil update!! I love argan oil for my hair, it keeps my hair frizz free!! I try to oil my hair 4-5 days a week. My hair gets super dry!! I have high porosity hair.. trying to figure out how to get my hair to retain moisture. Can you please tell me? I ordered both the flashcards and the guide detailing the ingredients in haircare products.

Do you pre-poo?

Try grease. The results might surprise you. Many naturals have gone back to using what worked before we started spending so much money on products that dry out hair in 3 days yet grease keeps hair moisturised for much longer

🦋Can having henna-dyed hair and using olaplex...damage hair?

No you should be fine, however everyone’s hair responds differently to everything, so I would space them out between treatments if you could.
