No one can be held accountable for what you are. Umar, rude Allahu enhu, felt accountable for the sake of the Ummah. So, he wanted to carry the food to the woman, because he felt accountable. Which is a large contrast from us Muslims today.

I don't know any specific books, but Tafsir Qutb focuses on modern day society and the Qur'an. Some good speakers are : Yusha Evans, Musa Cerantonio, obviously Hamza, Anwar al Awlaki, and Abu Muwahhid. They speak about Sharia.

"When they were squeezed they forgot about morality".the true justice of islam was taught and practised by the prophet(s.a.w) and his companions.even the jews lived favourably among the muslims then.

There's nothing wrong with addressing brother Hamza as Sheikh, the term is afterall reserved for people of wisdom, knowledge and elders of the community. It doesn't always translate into 'scholar', which is more accurately 'Aalim'. But even if it does, brother Hamza would qualify if not Shaykh ul Islam then Sheikh of Philosophy or Dawah or Debate etc.. much like the late Ahmed Deedat (rh) was referred to as Sheikh of Comparative Religion.

Nice lecture brother but a couple of issues. You said liberal secularism is based on separating God from having any say in society and individualism. But secularism merely has to do with applying equal rights without discrimination. A society could be theocratic but also secular at the same time by treating other religious communities according to equal rights, especially if that is a principle. And a society could be secular-atheistic yet not individualistic but rather community based.

the call syeikh is perhaps usually more of a sign of respect. But I agree, I wouldn't call him Syaikh Hamza... yet. :)

Salaaamu aleykum, wallahi this guy too for the sake of Allah and all his efforts to defend Islam in a way that RasooluLLAH would be proud. But I think that you've been too harsh on Lawal. The word Sheykh is more a term used to show respect (mostly to our elders) but not to coin religious authority. Hamza is probably not a scholar but I think that he deserves the Sheykh title for his work :) Forgive me for I don't mean to offend and Allah knows best. Wa salaam.

Assalamu Alaikum sister Hasina, I agree with your comment. I know brother Hamza and I dont think he likes being called a "sheikh".. He is not, and will need at least another 12-15 years before he has the requisite wisdom to be called a "Sheikh".. > ;-) I will tell him to insist on being called an "Ustadh" for any billing in flyers/websites/videos

I love Hamza Tzortis too, he is an excellent speaker, but Shekih? I don't think so, We need to be careful not to call every speaker Sheikh when they are not really Sheikhs, it's unnecessary exaggeration.
