My plan this weekend is to start a reading Journal. These are the papers/stamps I have decided to use. So this is perfectly timed! 😃. I was a very avid reader but lost the habit with bringing up kids. I made a resolution that this was the year to get back into it. And, like you, I like to document the everyday! Thanks for the inspiration! ❤️

Hi Margaret, I have been thinking about starting a reading journal also. They really appeal to me and it would be fun to record your thoughts on each of the books. I hear you on bringing up kids, it typically doesn't leave much time for reading. There was a large chunk of time I'd only read books to them but I enjoyed those stories too. What type of journal are you going to use for your reading journal? I was thinking a travelers notebook but I like the bullet journals too.

@@CraftyConceptswithErin I was planning on using a Bullet Journal. I have one of those on hand - but not sure that the paper is great quality, but I'm going with using what I have. If I like it, I may invest more - but as my main recording of memories is my scrapbooking, it will be ok. If I like it - and use it - I will look at other options. I like the idea of recording my thoughts, too!

I love watching your videos, Erin.. You are so talented! I am in a book club and we have read so many good books, but my favorite one recently has been Where the Crawdad's Sing. I think it was by Delia Owens. I don't have a lot of time to read either, so I usually borrow the audio book so I can listen while driving, cleaning, etc.

I love your layout, and how you printed images of the books! I bought a reading log/journal with a page for each book I read. I print the story description from Goodreads, then adhere it to the journal. These stamps would make such a cute addition to my journal. I am a huge fan of Lynn Austin and historical fiction. I highly recommend Karolina's Twins by Ronald H Balson. You may also like The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain. Thanks so much for your creative and inspiring layouts!

I really like this layout since I love to read also. Paper piecing the clothes was such a cute idea and the books add the perfect finishing touch - oh, don’t want to forget the covers of the books. Such a great idea. I loved The Lost Apothecary. I read different authors also. You might want to read The Paris Library by Janet Charles, Surviving Savannah by Patti Callahan, The Heirloom Garden by Viola Shipman. They are all good reads. Hope you get to continue reading whenever the opportunity arises. Thanks for sharing❣️

Fun layout! Loved seeing the paper piecing. I'm not a big reader.. mostly because I don't have time. However when I used to commute on the bus downtown to work, my daughter talked me into reading the biggest, longest book I've ever read called Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett (she loves to read and she's a huge Ken Follett fan). I didn't think I'd ever get through it - but it sucked my right in. I've also read many of the Karen Kingsbury books, the series about the Baxter family. Thanks for sharing, Erin.

I read Pillars of the Earth also. It was probably one of the best written books I've ever read which is why I was hooked I think more than the story itself.

Pillars of the Earth is also one of my all time favorite books - I read it in in 90’s and then when my book club started in 1999 I had everyone read it again!

What a great page. You sure have a talent choosing all the right elements for a layout. I'm reading "The Giver of Stars" by Jojo Moyes. Based on a true story about Elenor Roosevelt's new traveling library ( the Packhorse Librarians of Kentucky). Warning, laugh, cry and worry.

Love this layout because I love reading! I listen to audiobooks at bedtime. I've been using Goodreads for years to keep track of what I've read. I'm currently listening to "The Siege of Winter" by Ariana Franklin. I mostly read historical fiction, with other genres thrown in from time to time.

A very nice page layout with a good theme for the generations to come who look at the album. I have been an avid book worm since childhood starting with the Bobsy twins, later the Anne of Green Gables & Pollyanna books, then my mother introduced me to Agatha Christie as a teenager & I was sold. Basically I love mystery books especially old English mysteries as I am Australian of Celtic origins & have never enjoyed the American style detective stories or humour. In regards to mystery books with a Christian theme, Ted Dekker books are great, especially the Black, Red, Green, White books called the circle series as you can start with any colour & still go round the circle. I do like good historical novels but I am definitely not a romance reader for the sake of romance. These days as my eyesight is not the best, I have taken to listening to audio books but love the radio plays which go for around an hour & a half on average. So I am hearing my favourite author's stories put into a short play. Love it!!! Only trouble is that I can't concentrate both on crafting & listening these days & as I have arthritis badly in my hands I sit & play solitaire as my fingers are itching to do something as I have knitted, crocheted or sewed since 10 years of age, so well over 60 years.

Hi Louise, thank you for the book recommendations. I do a lot of driving kids around and enjoy listening to audiobooks during the commute. I have a hard time listening and crafting too. I am sorry to hear about your arthritis. I have a bit of it developing in my hands and the doctors are trying to rule out rheumatoid arthritis. It is sure hard to get into a specialist these days. You sound like a lady of many talents knowing how to sew, crochet, knit and paper craft!

Great layout - love the paper piecing! I used this paper collection for one of my book club groups last year. We read “The Dutch House” by Ann Patchett. All her books are really good. I am currently reading “Homegoing” by Yaa Gyasi for next book club. It’s an easy read even though the subject matter is not easy. One of my favorite authors is Liane Moriarity. I have not watched “Big Little Lies” yet but hope to read that book soon and then watch it.

I love this layout! I am taking a little break from reading through all the Chesapeake Shores books which is some light reading before I fall asleep! I also love Catherine Ryan Hyde books and The #1Ladies Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith. His description of Africa makes a movie in my head!

Great layout Erin. I love the different elements you used. Murder Mysteries are my favorite read or movie too and one great one is “The Ice Bridge” by Kathryn Meyer Griffith and it takes place on Mackinaw Island in Michigan…this was a great read especially since we live in Michigan and have been on the island multiple times …thanks for the inspirations

Im looking through your comments and think you are amazing for replying to almost each one of them. Did your husband take the photo? Did you have ask him? Mine has to be prompted to take a photo and them he gets the angle wrong, plus the photo is then "staged" because we know he is taking it instead of him taking it spontaneously and we act natural🤣 I want to scraplift this layout but with me reading to our 2 children and then 5 of our favourite picture books at the bottom. I love reading/book layouts❤

Plus it is fun, especially all the great book recommendations in this one. My youngest son has gotten really good at taking photos like this. He likes photography and knows my husband and other son are really bad about it so I’m never in the pics. Sometimes I do have to ask and the staged photos can be hilarious. I love your idea for scraplifting this to document reading to your kids. We have some old photos like that and I love them.

Thank you and that is too funny you picked up on the blanket. Its super soft and looks good too! I got it from Pier One but it has been a few seasons. I bet you could search Amazon for faux cowhide blankets and find one similar.

I love everything about this layout, especially the paper piecing and tiny pictures of the books! It's also fun to read everyone's recommendations. I've read several of the books you've got there; they were good! You might like The Woman in Cabin 10, The Widow by Fiona Barton, Gone Girl, and The Girl.on the Train by Paula Hawkins. My favorites are historical fiction, and I've been a fan of the Outlander series forever. I also recommend The Snow Child, The Light Between Oceans, and The Art of Racing in the Rain. 🤓

Since you have read Christian books and you enjoy mystery/suspense, I would recommend the Lantern Beach books by Christy Barritt, Cold Harbor or Truth Seekers series by Susan Sleeman, Fallout series by Lisa Harris and many of the Love Inspired Suspense books.

This layout is so cute!! I love how you cut out clothes for the girl. Actually, I think it's one of my favorites! I love to read and usually I read about an hour before bedtime. Right now my favorite author is Lisa Wingate - I'm reading a series starting with book #1-Tending Roses, #2 The Language of the Sycamores, & #3 Drenched in Light. Two other Wingate favorites I highly recommend is, Before We Were Yours and the Book of Lost Friends. I also enjoy historical fiction. I saw comment below from Margaret Ham about keeping a reading journal - love that idea!
