Hakuba is such a beautiful place in the Summer! I only had the chance to enjoy it skiing in the winter, but what a magical area! The rock climb reminded me a lot of clambering up Tateyama in Toyama. Beautiful views!
@CurrentlyHannah3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’d only previously seen it in winter also but now I wanna see all the good snow/skiing areas in summer!
We did this hike last, last weekend and was amazing. We went the opposite way starting from Sarukura and descended the way you started. It was so tough coming down that way it killed my knees but seeing young children just bounce down was kick in the teeth
@CurrentlyHannah3 жыл бұрын
Oh nice! How would you rate the views of the other route compared to the Tsugaike route? I’d love to do this hike again and might consider the other direction!
@CalParr3 жыл бұрын
@@CurrentlyHannahit’s pretty tough slog going up that way but the snow patch is impressive even in summer still really thick. The way the weather worked out we had pretty much clear skies going up first day and we went to the peak for sunset. The views going up were nice but hard to compare to other route because the day we came down Tsugaike route we were pretty much in the clouds. The lake looked impressive but not as good as in your shots with the fine weather. I probably wouldn’t go back just to do the sarukura route by itself but if you don’t plan any winter hiking it prob worth to return to hike a bit on the snow patch. The lower down hut we stayed at also has Viking buffet style dinner and breakfast which it pretty unique in itself. They’re the oldest huts in Japan apparently. If you wanted to return you go up Sarukura and then turn left (south) a long to ridge to Mt Goryu if you didn’t want to repeat the route. The kirette is meant to be impressive and not as advanced as daikirette or jandam
@CurrentlyHannah3 жыл бұрын
@@CalParr Oh interesting... Thanks for sharing your experience! Interesting that the lower hut you stayed at had a buffet! Sounds exactly what I'd want after a long hike haha. I'll keep all that in mind when planning to hike again someday :D

Amazing video! I look forward to the 4K version too but honestly this is already incredibly beautiful and enjoyable. I really do think that your work keeps topping the previous one. The music matches perfectly the scenery and creates this incredible atmosphere. This is keeping our dream of hiking in Japan alive. Thank you! Thanks too for the directions for the hike at the end of the video. You mentioned that it is a challenging hike. Do you register your names and info with the authorities prior to these hikes in general, just in case help may be needed? Here in Canada I do think a lot of people would register before heading deep into the mountains for an adventure.

Love your videos Hannah! 😍 This one is spectacular too of course. *"Damn Japan! Damn!!"* The banter with the guys who didn't bring their bathing suits, the rando couple you guys posed with, the butterflies, the butterfly freakout lol, the drone footage as always is top notch, the nod to your singing etc. You guys made it together. 👏😁👏 I'd love any good tips on hiking boots, and who knows... maybe you can do a winter hike with Quinlan. Replace a traumatic experience with a really good one eh. 👟👟 I'm with Jon-Stephen Stansel on the other thing though. I have zero respect for the egomaniacs that run Canva, and the continued harm they perpetuate in devaluing what is already stressful, extremely under-appreciated, and underpaid work that designers do. His analogy that a highly processed microwave 'dinner' is not a replacement for a home cooked meal or going to a restaurant, imho absolutely applies here. Not to mention the data breach, phishing scams etc. In good conscience, I would love to urge you Hannah to not take these sponsorships which harm plenty of people that are already doing it tough. 🙏
