"It's such a shame you had to leave. I would've loved to meet you here." That one hurts every time I hear it.
@scodocs7 ай бұрын
What does it mean? What are the lyrics about? English is not my first language
@RandomLeveledLoot7 ай бұрын
@scodocs Overall, I believe the song is a powerful anthem of resilience, self-discovery, and the pursuit of inner peace in the face of life's challenges. The song closes with a poignant reflection on loss and missed opportunities for connection, hence the line I was referring to. Once we reach the end, we'll look around for the people we had hoped would be with us to the end, only to find them gone. Hope this helped :)
@scodocs7 ай бұрын
@@RandomLeveledLoot so "meet you *here*" would be the place where i've reached? But why is he talking about god throughout the song? What "Don't say no, we will run till the sun won't guide us home" And "Of what you'll never be to me Is it a testament to your grace" Means?
@scodocs7 ай бұрын
@@RandomLeveledLoot but, yeah, thanks for clarifying
@fff38064 ай бұрын
@@RandomLeveledLoot, thanks for sharing. I never thought about this perspective. However I understand the lyrics a bit differently, for example not all the words are directed to God but some are for people who are no longer in this world or just rhetorical questions to oneself. I guess everybody looks from personal perspective. Anyway, great, great lyrics and one of my favourite songs from the album.

@Jayrohh Жыл бұрын
What is he referring to exactly??
@Kodlak15 Жыл бұрын
@@Jayrohh I was wondering the same thing. There are a handful of references to God throughout the song, and a few where Brian seems to be directly addressing God. With that context in mind, Im inclined to say this is one of those instances where he is directly addressing God. The line before this one is “born of the bred, we had no way of choosing our existence”. There seems to be a theme throughout the song of frustration and defeat over being made to feel ashamed or unworthy because we were set on a path that was not ours to choose. In a handful of the prevalent religions the prevailing message is humans are born broken and damned in the eyes of God, and the only way to fix that is through the grace and forgiveness of God. This line in particular seems to be lashing out at that notion. The notion that it is graceful to forgive us for our nature, when our nature was not ours to choose.

My kids and I saw these guys last year when they had Landmvrks opening up for them. Sat around and chatted with Christian and Brian and a couple of the other guys - very chill and just kinda casual-like. I hadn't even really heard of these guys before that, and I certainly didn't realize that I was in the presence of genius. This album has been on repeat since it released. There are not a lot of perfect albums in this world - maybe ten or so. Master of Puppets, Somewhere in Time, Souvenirs, Shogun, Between Me and the Machine are a few examples. I think The Death We Seek needs to go on this list. Can't wait to see you guy in Atlanta and Nashville. Safe travels, and thanks very much for this album. It's like a bright sun in a dark world of sameness in the Metalcore world right now. Perfection.

Could someone explain me the lyrics? And why is he talking about god throughout the song? What the lines "Don't save us like we're unworthy of your forgiveness" "Don't say no, we will run till the sun won't guide us home" And "Of what you'll never be to me Is it a testament to your grace" Means? English is not my first language, forgive any mistake
@cregh3 ай бұрын
"Don’t 'save' us like we’re unworthy of your forgiveness": This line is a rejection of condescension or pity. The speaker seems to be pushing back against someone who is offering help or "salvation" in a way that feels patronizing or dismissive. It suggests that the speaker doesn't want to be "saved" by someone who views them as inferior or unworthy of forgiveness. It's a call for respect and dignity.
@cregh3 ай бұрын
"Don’t say no; We will run till the sun won’t guide us home": This line reflects a sense of determination and perseverance. The speaker is urging against giving up ("Don’t say no") and commits to continuing their journey or struggle, even when it becomes difficult or when they lose their way ("till the sun won’t guide us home"). The imagery of running until the sun no longer guides them suggests an endurance beyond natural limits, a relentless pursuit of their goals or a path, regardless of the challenges.
@cregh3 ай бұрын
"Another match to add to the flame, another backed up memory of what you’ll never be to me": This metaphorical language conveys a sense of accumulated frustration or disappointment. "Another match to add to the flame" suggests intensifying a fire-possibly representing anger, passion, or unresolved issues. "Another backed up memory of what you’ll never be to me" suggests that the speaker is reflecting on repeated instances where someone has failed to meet their expectations or become something meaningful in their life. It could imply a buildup of emotional baggage or unfulfilled expectations that continue to fuel the speaker's feelings.
