I don’t know exactly what I did, but I must have updated something or changed something, but the app is working perfectly now every time and it doesn’t matter when I plug the cable in either, thanks heaps.

thanks for the great information! i'm just getting into fpv drones and have started using your FPV simulator and Velocidrone on an iPhone 15. both work great even using the onscreen controller but now I have the Jumper T15 and want to get in some practice using that but it seems Apple wants us to jump through hoops before we can even use our radios and sims to practice flying through hoops. i'm glad i got working now though with your help.

I'm very much in the Apple Eco system. I've had Macs for the last 10 years of so and iPhone - I like the way they work (mostly) but I've really come to dislike Apple ideas about how computers work. As a developer, publishing on the Play store is so much easier than the App Store. And yes, Apple doesn't just block any device it hasn't certified itself, but some specific system calls are also restricted. The handshaking to get the wifi joysticks working had to be rewritten because the much nicer and more simple implemetation was also blocked by Apple! Anywya, sorry to rant - glad you are getting on well with the sims - hopefully it'll help you with your real-life quads. Don't forget to learn how to land :)

hi . is the controller you have in this video better to use than the radiomaster pocket ELRS? im exploring the upgrade option. i see something about 4in1 too so if i want to go from sims. to indoor. outdoor to the cins or dji for photography would the radiomaster pocket ELRS suit too? i was looking at pavo pro

Any ELRS radio with the right version will work for iOS using this Wifi connection. A 4-in-1 module won't... because it doesn't have a wifi chip in it. DJI uses it's own proprietary radio system

I’m having the same issue someone else mentioned. Once connected to the ExpressLRS access point, a captive wifi page comes up and leaving that page severs the connection to the remote. Would you explain how you set up the direct connection to the controller?

As a side note: going to the second page labeled “Wifi” and selecting the 3rd or 4th options to continue using as AP allows me to stay connected and open the CurryKitten Sim, but it won’t recognize the controller when searching via the Wifi remote setting.

Alright, I figured it out. Turns out I just had to update the firmware on my RM pocket to the newest version. To anyone else having trouble, watch "How To Update Firmware on Express LRS" by Flite Test Tech. This will let you connect any ELRS to Velocidrone as well. Great info!

G’day, I don’t have any sound on my android version, is there a way to get sound? I heard sound on some other videos I’ve seen online, does it only have motor sounds on the PC version?

It has sounds. It does follow the system though, so if you have the switch so your phone buzzes instead of rings, then it effectively mutes the sim

@@CurryKitten I have sound! Thanks heaps being able to hear the motors makes a huge difference, I had a habit of speeding up all the time instead of pitching up. Now I can slow things down a bit.

I am trying so hard to get into fpv with zero success. I've bought a jumper T15. That won't connect to my iPhone, so I went and bought a Samsung android tablet for $500, which hasn't put me any closer to using this app. Somewhere in the Jumper T15 150 page user manual, it said to turn off internal and external RF modules to help with joysticks, which made no difference. On your app, it says joystick HUD, but on my radio, it has joysticks HID , is one of these a typo, or is there a problem there. I open the fpv skydive app and connect the radio to the tablet with the cable supplied with the tablet, but the app does not recognise any joystick.

Yep - nothing connects to an iPhone unless it's MFi certified... which no radios are... hence the need to workaround such as this wifi joystick idea. If you are on Android though, you shoul dhave no such issues. You will need to make sure you have a proper OTG cable (some cables are charge only, but don't transmit data) Also check that on your radio, when you plug a USB cable in it's either set to go into joystick mode, or prompts you for what to do. My app gets the description of the Joystick from the joystick, so if it's saying "HUD" that's what the joystcik is presenting itself as

@@CurryKitten I’ve had some success, but extremely frustratingly I don’t know how to do it again. I’ve managed to get a cable that works and flew a bit but now it’s not recognising the joystick again. Is there a specific sequence of turning on the app and connecting the cable. I had the app on and joystick connected then I took the cable off and plugged it back in and now I’m back to scratching my head again. I swear flying a real aircraft in my case hang gliders is easier than working out this process.

I've tested this on around 4 or 5 Android devices, and they can all act differently. Some of them didn't want to recognise the joystick dynamically - I mean by this that they didn't recognise it being plugged in whilst running. In these cases plug the joystick in your tablet and then start up the app seems to work the best

@@CurryKitten I ended up getting frustrated with it then downloaded liftoff but the gimbal movements were mixed up and was equally annoying so I tried skydive again and it worked. After a decent session including going through a cavern bouncing off the walls 😁, I unplugged and plugged back again and it still worked. So it’s all still a mystery whether it’s going to work or not, but it’s great fun when it is working.

Can I flash my radio master boxer to elrs 3.4 I’m currently at 3.3 with having to flash my receiver on my vision40 from rotor riot

I had to update to 3.4 or higher for it to work. If you're not sure how to update, watch "How To Update Firmware on Express LRS" by Flite Test Tech, it really helped me as I'm new to this.

Should work fine with the Zorro, but when you say "dongle" - do you mean having an external module in the back of the radio? If so, did you update it to the 3.4.x firmware?

Yep iPhone 13 for me, connected to the elrs network (which says no internet connection, I noticed your phone doesn’t say that). Bought the sim, it doesn’t find my radio after choosing wifi joysticks :(

Yes... but functionally it depends. Each level takes slightly more resource than the previous one. I've tested the intiial level against phones with 1GB of memory, but to run the valley level, you'll need 3GB. Performance wise, you will need something with a gfx processor - not usually an issue with mid-high level phones, but cheap and cheerful models will often get left behind here. I can play it on a complete potato of a phone if I knock down the resoution and the details to low, but it looks pretty awful :D

Hello will it work with a PS5 gamepad ? Or only PS4 gamepad ?

If you are starting the wifi on the radio and need to connect to it with your phone/tablet, the password is expresslrs Once you have the password entered, it'll obviously save that so you can easily join again next time

Velocidrone require internet. When iphone is connected to elrs AP- no internet. Not so smart solution. Must be connected to home network to work as expected. Not sure about CurryKitten simulator 🤔

There's no need to have the Internet on the phone unless you want to play with others online... in which case you would connect the radio to the home network. Otherwise, just connect to the radios AP and all is good!

It may also be possible to create a hotspot on your phone and connect the ERLS to that hotspot.

How to use ps4 controller?

Put your PS4 controller in to bind mode (PS button + share when it's off and hold down until you get rapid flashing) connect it from the blutooth menu on your phone and then when you go into the sim it'll be available as a joystick
