Designer here - Thanks for giving the game a chance. Delighted to hear you enjoy it! You captured the highs and lows perfectly. I'm happy to answer any questions if anyone has them - Cheers!

Any plans for an expansion, I'm afraid that I see little variety and will get bored after I get use to the same cards over and over. Would like to mix it up w replacing some cards randomly or even having a dice

@@redspit123blackops This was my first published design and I intended for it to be a really quick game. One of the most common feedbacks I’ve gotten is I love it but I wish there was more. I’ve thought of a few ways for interesting expansions but I’d want to do it in a meaningful way and not just more of the same. Definitely something I’m mulling over. That said I’m wrapping up my next game that’s a bit more meaty and has a random puzzle element to address this exact feedback- Less luck based too. Either way thanks for expressing interest and even if you don’t end up getting it I wish you well.

Love this design. I'm curious what the "desired" win ratio is for it? 1 out of 16 seems pretty harsh, but it could also be his style of play / learning curve. Thanks!
@GoblinHourGames7 ай бұрын
I can only speak for myself as the designer but I'm usually around 75-85% win rate. While I've read on the BGG page and other feedback that you tend to start winning more the more games you play and learn when to use the items the most efficiently and get a feel for how many of each weapon power you've seen and may have left when pushing your luck. With all push your luck though sometimes it's just not on your side which is a big reason I kept the games so brief. You will have a lot of losses but also a lot of wins you clutch out with the perfect draw or a perfectly timed item use - Cheers!@@ConstantChaosGames

This is indeed a brilliant simple little game. I purchased it few weeks ago (still waiting delivery). The default victory condition of 8 captured souls (defeated cards) is way too harsh (win ratio ridiculously low). I will play it (and log my games) as follows: 8 - Hard = Epic victory 7 - Normal = Victory 6 - Easy = Minor Victory 5 or less = Loss

Cursed? I should jolly well say so! The Dice Gods hate me! No Dice in this game I see, but the Gods of the Card Draw hate me too! 😭😭

I love this game! Somehow I have 6 wins in 11 plays, but it’s always right at the wire either way. Great little thing to pop out quickly here and there.

That was a fun playthrough and explanation of what seems like a fun and straightforward game. I think I’d enjoy the mechanics and how quick and compact the gameplay is, but I wish I liked the art and design more-it’s a little low key for me. Totally subjective opinion, of course! I might still see if my wallet will let me try it out :)

I find the art charming, but that’s going to be subjective of course :)

The idea was to go for an adventurer drawing on old parchment vibe. I kept the game so brief because I have 4 kids under 4 and wanted to design a game I could actually finish :)

haha so close but no banana! Thanks Mike. What a silly game, I like it! lol Does look hard to beat, but has the "just one more try" syndrome?
@GoblinHourGames7 ай бұрын
Speaking as the creator - I've seen people say they win more often the more they play and learn when to use the items for max efficiency and get a feel for how many of certain weapons they have seen or should be left. I aimed for the just one more try feel and even as the creator whos played it countless times I cant just play one game when I bust it out.

Pandemic in cards 😂 - most lose pandemic more times than win it 😂

@5:34 shouldn't this card's damage have been doubled by your Frenzy Potion? Because your Frenzy Potion card says your "initial" weapon strike; in other words, I don't think you get to decide which weapon you want to apply the Frenzy Potion to. I could be wrong though.
@OneStopCoopShop7 ай бұрын
Did you mean at the end of the first play? The time stamp you gave was when I got the frenzy potion, not when I discussed using it. But yes, you are correct, it needs to be your first weapon flip
@warever377 ай бұрын
@@OneStopCoopShopyou said you didn't want to waste your frenzy potion on the short bow, but I don't think you have that option because, it was your initial weapon; so the frenzy potion should've been applied to this card (short bow), right?
@GoblinHourGames7 ай бұрын
@@warever37you use it for a first weapon strike but you can choose when/which first strike to use it on. You’re not forced to use it immediately. Ideally you want to use it to negate a monster trait or on a higher power weapon to try for the single attack capture rule
@warever377 ай бұрын
@@GoblinHourGamesBut it still has to be used on the FIRST card you draw when facing a monster, right? (if you decide to use it of course).

This game has low re-playability in my opinion. Great game but you will tire of it quickly and put it away and play it again 6 months later.
@OneStopCoopShop7 ай бұрын
I think it's a perfect filler, which is all it's trying to be. Easy to bring it pretty much anywhere and play 2-3 games in a row while you are waiting for something. That's all the replay I need from it, personally

@@OneStopCoopShop I get ya. I just haven’t played my copy in a few months. Great game design. Filler solo games for me tend to be grey gnome games. Jason Glover is a genius in this particular sub-genre of games. I played cursed off and on for a week. And I honestly haven’t had a desire to play it again in a while.

@@OneStopCoopShop do the Tin series. Tin helm. Dustrunner might be one of the best games ever made. I’ve actually never played iron helm. In this particular space I stick with tin games. @@nobuthatsme9201 My aim was more for a filler game when you know your pressed for time with no dice or counter cubes, throw in your work bag, when going to hotel, on a call and on hold, etc. That said I hope you check out my next game. It's going to be more meaty with a randomize puzzle element to address re-playability and is also less luck dependent. Maxing out the tin with 54 cards :) And I cant agree more about Jason's games, tin helm was what inspired me to try my hand at making games to start with! Cheers-
