Okay, got a question for you, Ryoma : Why do people at Plat ranks and lower constantly start the game with a 5-man mid gank attempt? Is it really worth it to go 0-5-0 for 1 minute and maybe get 1 or 2 kills over a 1-3-1 comp?

Higher ranks do this too, the minions clash at mid lane first. If the enemy team splits, you can clear mid before them and then potentially get a kill there or on another lane. Other methods used are rushing cannons on other lanes while the enemy is 5 mid.

What if you take the giants before the first tribute but it spawn on your giants' side? Isn't that a wasted camp because the enemy can easily rotate to clear and be back in time to contest?

It's more of a waste if you don't do it. The same argument could be made with "what if it spawned on the opposite side"....also, usually if they are clearing the camp it gives you a small window of opportunity to engage.
