what you need to remember is this is artillery, designed for bush warfare to counter Russian artillery. it was designed in the 80s and is still one of the best artillery vehicles in the world. pin point accuracy over 39kms around 18miles with ability to use rockets assisted and GPS guided munitions that increase the range to around 70kms or 45miles. it is not designed for tank duels

I live quite close to Rheinmetal Somerset West. Where they design the munitions for this thing. One of the engineers there used to church with me. He told me they have got the rocket assisted shells going out to 95 kms by now. Considering what's going on in Ukraine right now where artillery and range is everything as it always is in conventional wars. One might think the world would take South African armaments' more seriously by now (considering look down shoot down and Casspir and sons) but it seems everyone needs to bleed a little first.

Fire as soon as fire mission comes in then keep hauling... the vehicles must hold enough water reserves food , feul and ammo for the crew for the majority of the opperation.. .. if the engagement takes longer they get ressuplied via airdrop

The G6 was not made for urban combat. Was excellent for long range. The later versions G5-52 fires a round every 3 seconds. Not sure what Warthunder has such a long reload time. Also a helpful vis from Phly here. It's only by looking at Phly's good anti-air with this gun that I realise what I'd been doing wrong. The drop off or deflecting on this gun caused by the slow round speed is, of course, reduced depending on how vertically you're firing. So I was over-compensating for drop-off and shooting above enemy planes, but not now. Now I'm shooting more directly into planes' line of movement, and better, thanks to Phly's influence. Cool.

I love my British 7.0br lineup and have to say this new addition - the G6 Rhino - is FUN! I love how it's bad at almost all things, but the combo of a quick-acquiring turret (but with only partial rotation) and blatting gun never gets old :) What a diverse 7.0 lineup of purposeful and snipy FV4202 medium tank, tiny Eland wheelyboy, monster Conway, cool Attacker jet and now this thing. None of it is overpowered, so I hope they all stay together at 7.0. Hell, you can even pretend the Rhino means the lineup has SPAA! I should say all my crew are Aced ... so maybe the vehicles seem better to me than they really are! (My Rhino reloads 4.5 seconds faster than Phyl's one - you can get it down to a best reload speed of 14.9 seconds just like the Conway, which is a very different kind of big gun). I feel like, overall, the G6 Rhino's limitations justify my s****y over-defensive playstyle where I carefully mope around finding the angles and waiting etc! As much as I love, say, my USA M46 (also at 7.0br) often I really can't be a***d with all that "ducking in and out, moving around, having to hit weakspots well" etc nonsense. I just want to skulk and whack off. I mean whack.

Very proud South African here, I hate how war thunder implemented the G6. Should shoot 8 rpm, and should be a lower BR for sure. We make very strange tanks, and if you’ve ever seen or heard about our casspir or buffel MRAPS the you’d quickly realise our equipment is: ugly (except G6, she’s a beauty), unconventional, cheap to make and repair but by god, they are very resilient. And get the job done very well. The buffel for example, one of the first MRAPS, and (while ugly and too heavy) was/is (since U.N still use it for Africa) one of the best at its job roll. Cheap, highly repairable and just the definition of cost effective.

The g6 rhino was spesifically built for the border war as a mobile long range artillary platform designed for the bush warfare in southern africa to replace the american and british pieces in the sadf at the time and to gain range superiority over the soviet artillary used by the angolan military at the time , outfitted with the best aiming system of its time, it was never designed to run and gun although for a artillary piece of its size in was rapid deployment during firing the driver was stationed at the back too supply the ammunition from rear storage to the loader inside, it could leave after firing about as fast as the driver could close the hatches and get back to the driver seat which is about 30 seconds, again never attended to be in the line of fire, they once did a operation to strike a mig air base to prevent migs being launched in a counter offensive, they were so affective in coordination with forward observation troops they were able to hit the first mig taking off on the runway and affectively destroy the base from about 30km away, it is one bad machine for the purpose it was built, and kudos to the engineers the first 4 experimental g6 howitzers that was built was driven 2500km from Johannesburg to the warzone affectively assist in operations making big impacts in the war and then driven back to Johannesburg for assesment after the productions g6 had reached the border, those first 4 experimental vehicles was basically already perfect right off the bat engineers only making small alterations during productions while the 4 experimental vehicles were on the border

WTF? It looks like they took one of those industrial cranes and just dropped a howitzer piece on it.

My dad is a south african and would talk hours on about the G6 and the bang that 155mm had when the bush war went on.

"Variable Time doesnt want to work" In my experience with artillery shells, it takes around 30 rotations for American 155 fuzes to activate

This vehicle is an artillery piece and it s not usually for middle field battles. Its role like the US M109A6 Paladin 155mm usually comes with artillery computer and fires from over (15km if I'm correct)

*_G6 DERP-KILL CHALLENGE_* Get a ground kill by literally role-playing as artillery and dropping the round in on top of them! Yea it's pretty much meaning a barrel inclination of >70° _of which_ I don't know what the flight time would even be, and yea you'd have to find someone camping, _and yes_ you'd only get the one shot... However, you only have to get *_one_* kill to win the entire internet! 🙏💗
