I worked the docks at a printing company that printed the NE catalogs, newspaper inserts and NYT magazine. Most of the drivers that went into the city were owner operators. I remember Curtis when he first came to New York City with the Guardian Angeles. I was in the Boston area then but had been to NYC a couple of times (in the mid 60s), and I recall how downright scary the subways there were. The idea that a group of young people would volunteer to risk their lives to protect average transit riders absolutely floored me!
