I’m a massive Kendrick fan, and also a Drake hater, and it’s time to stop bringing up the Pulitzer. It’s absolutely incredible that he has that accolade, but it’s so left field and so exclusively NOT a hip hop award, that it’s not even a good argument of how good a rapper/hip hop artist is. He’s a great storyteller for sure, and that’s truly why he won it. It’s just not a good comparison for skill when no one else in the category has one, or even gets looked at for one.
@onicallen4355Күн бұрын
@ they don’t hand out Pulitzer Award to just anybody though. That reason why it keeps being brought up was because it was profound that Kendrick (a rapper) won it in the first place no other rapper has achieved so imo opinion yes it’s valid every time it gets brought up and I’m also a massive dot fan and a Drake hater 😂 I see your perspective though I’m just thinking in the complete opposite 🤷🏾♂️
@aidanlamborneКүн бұрын
@@onicallen4355 the logic behind using it as a metric at all, is the fact that since he’s the only hip hop artist with one, that must make him the greatest by default. It’s just another accomplishment, and artists need to be looked at wholly by their body of work. His body of work speaks for itself, but I’m getting tired of the constant “Well he won a Pulitzer, so….” take, because it doesn’t even recognize his talent or his pen. If the first thing people think of when they hear Kendrick Lamar is his Pulitzer, I do not value their opinion on hip hop at all, and for some people it’s their first talking point when it comes to that man’s ability as an artist.
@onicallen4355Күн бұрын
@@aidanlamborne ah okay I can see that I’m the terms people making him the greatest based the Pulitzer what you said make sense and I agree. Especially with the first talking point. My take was coinciding with yours the Pulitzer doesn’t make him the “goat” but his body of work In it’s entirety plus the Grammies and other accolades he has accumulated definitely puts him in the conversation for surely. Like Kendrick is the greatest imo not off the Pulitzer itself by the entirety of his discography and what he has accomplished outside of music for surely. All in all I was agreeing with you just had different perspective on it
