Very nicely done. Good idea to use a different shape of wood instead of the standard round or square. Thank you for sharing your video.

Looks great Tanya! I have to agree it looks better without the bark even though I do love it when the bark stays on. This has a nice dark defining line along each side showing us where the bark was. And I am glad you left the texture where the bark had been and not sanded it. That dark line reminds of what you see in Black Locust. Not sure I have seen coffee wood before and like it. I hate it when there is a void under the nub I am trying to take off! Great video, Gary

Thank you so much Gary 😊 I also like the lines that define where the bark was. The texture that was underneath the bark was to me an added bonus. It made this a very unique piece. Thank you for watching my video 😊 Take care 🙂

Beautiful platter Tanya, it could be safer to glue a blank and hold it in a chuck, but this way is a nice solution two. lovely
@TanyaBecherWoodturning3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much 😊 I have only used a glue block one time and really like it. I plan on using that method more often.

Interesting creation. What does one use it for?
@TanyaBecherWoodturning3 жыл бұрын
I use mine on my island for vegetables. Also they are use to make bread in. In the old days they probably kneaded bread in them.

Nice platter Tanya, actually that Coffee Wood doesn't seem to cut very hard, a bit like Walnut or Willow I'd say. Is that correct?
@TanyaBecherWoodturning3 жыл бұрын
It was not hard to cut but the wood was extremely hard which caused me to have to sharpen a lot. I would say the wood is somewhat like walnut but the wood came off more in splinters then bigger pieces. Thank you Leo!
