Never thought I’d hear the words “lovely” and “scramble” used in the same sentence. That was an insane video! Not for the faint of heart climber. I declare you were a Mountain Goat in your past life. It seemed the climb didn’t live up to the hype and your expectations, but your video and the spectacular views were thrilling, I’m sure to all of us. Thank you!

Hahaha no not really. The video, as all my scramble videos trying to show the route as good as possible with little distortion as possible (hence no drama) as I was really annoyed at all the videos on KZbin when people try to make things scary as possible. I assume that most people watch scramble videos as they would like to do the tour themselves (like me)…. Yes the curved ridge in Glen Coe is by far not as steep or scary as people want to show it or talk it for whatever reason they try to make it…

@@StripeyHatGuy I see, is the Aonach Eager in mind? a cracking route. It's notably more tricky than Curved ridge, based on my viewing of this excellent video, though I tackled the Aonach Eager in winter so that complicates things. I am looking to do the The Ring of Steall, Mamores on the Thursday, if the weather behaves itself. Enjoy!
@StripeyHatGuy2 жыл бұрын
No the Aonach Eagach is not on my mind, did it last year with a wild camp on it in the middle - really nice tour. Was thinking of some scramble routes up Stob Coire nam Beith or Aonach Dubh West-Face or even some different ones on Creise - still quite some routes left in Glencoe. Ring of Steal is nice but I would assume it will be super busy like most popular hill walks/scrambles at the weekend. Have a great weekend mate - enjoy!

"I'm not wanting people thinking Im something I'm not . . . Like a dare devil" He says climbing a grade 3 scrambling ridge one handed so he can hold his go-pro 😅😅 Fair play to you! Having done the nearby Aonach Eagach ridge just last month, curved ridge is now very high on my bucket list. Fair play to you
@StripeyHatGuy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony, it is really not as bad as people talk it - obviously depending where you are coming from. In my opinion the Aonach Eagach is more difficult due to it's length and down climbs in-between. The most difficult part of the curved ridge is finding the entrance and probably the front approach of the Crowberry Tower. In my video with the wild camp on top via curved ridge I approached the Crowberry Tower from the rear which is fairly easy I think. ATB Stripey 👋👍

Great video (as always) Stripey. I found my palms were getting sweaty while I'd watched this one...probably because you don't use a backpack mounting system for your GoPro and you were doing all the scrambling using only one hand. Oh, and the linear mode was a great choice to show the real face of the challenge (no drama, hehe). Well done

Hi Attila Birta, thanks a lot for watching mate. The thing which bothered me the most with a lot of videos on KZbin is that people want to make a lot of things dramatic and me as a watcher I actually only want to see as good as possible how it looks like. Sometimes for wild camping, hiking with kids or sometimes scrambling so I thought it would be nice to make generally all videos on my channel as natural perspective looking as possible. The drama is there or not but no need to add drama 🤣😊👍

@@StripeyHatGuy You are absolutely right about it. I am the same. I prefer to see the real world as it is (especially when it is so gorgeus anyway). Anyway, your drone footages were -again- absolutely fantastic and showing a unique perspective that make your videos even more dramatic :D

@StripeyHatGuy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, thanks a lot. I do believe that most people want to make it super dramatic out of whatever reasons, when I looked it before hand up on KZbin I had actually quite a rough night before the scramble 😎. That is the reason why I thought I try to capture it in the most natural perspective I am capable of. IMHO everyone who is a capable scrambler/ has a head for heights will be able to enjoy the curved ridge to its full extend. By far the most difficult scramble I did so far was actually the nose a.k.a. easy route up Gear Aonach, unfortunately the footage isn't as good as I decided to late to put it on the helmet and in the route I couldn't do it 😂. ATB Stripey

Saw you in comments on another channel and thought we might have a look at yours. Saw the plastic hat, and knew this was serious business! Climbing that with the stick in one hand had MY knuckles going white, and you're right, no need for wide view, that looked scary enough in linear! The only thing more bum clenching than watching you go up, was imagining you climbing back down. This is one of the best quality videos like this we've ever seen, how you don't have 10k subs is mind blowing, but we'll add one more and ring that bell for more of the same please! Also, if you don't think that is scary, please, point us to one of your climbs that you DO think is scary so we can properly poo ourselves. Thanks!

@@StripeyHatGuy up the steep gulley in the middle then left at the top? And reverse back down?
@StripeyHatGuy Жыл бұрын
Yeah basically, just follow the path direction the big gully in the middle. It is hard to miss the path. At the top bit where it is steepish just take your time and have a good look, there is a path all the way up. The shortest way is to retrace your steps but you can also extend the tour to the next Munro on the ridge (quite a walk) and then down to your right I to the Lairig Eilide? - is a kind of steep but again a well trotted path and hard to miss. Have a look here: www.walkhighlands.co.uk/fortwilliam/buachailleetivemor.shtml It is by far the best description 👍
