I found your channel looking for bothy videos and it's quickly become my favourite channel for hiking. No silly gimmicks, no adverts disguised as gear reviews or 'geartube' nonsense, just good hikes and commentary with some beautiful cinematography. Keep it up!

A ready scource for a metal mesh for holding in the tank material is the steel filter of a broken cafetiere. It works well. Old vaseline tins do the job of container quite well with the benefit of them being made of steel. The weight difference at that size is negligible.

Mittlerweile öfter im Einsatz gehabt? Wie ist die Atmungsfähigkeit, bzw. wie verhält es sich mit Kondensation?
@StripeyHatGuy10 күн бұрын
@vegaj.r17549 күн бұрын

Unfortunately these special places won’t be around for much longer as the network of communication spreads far and wide and people struggle to explore and enjoy without having to tell everyone about their great experience and ruin the voyage of discovery for all those that are destroying that experience with google maps and KZbin maybe did not name it but it’s pretty obvious where it is was their 30 years ago and now fear for its and others futures .. our Egos are our worst enemy.. long live the wild places that connect us to the past with all who have been there sepparated by time but connected by place……..

@@cuprajake1 for me a shelter is just protection and not for warmth. For warmth I have my sleeping system. I will use the bonfus duos for all seasons, said this we do not have so much snow in Scotland that I see any issues here either. ATB Stripey

Thanks for this review. I have the Bonfus Iterus 38 and find it to be a top quality item. It's tough, durable and very comfortable and plenty big enough for me for a weekend on the hills. I have now also ordered the Saccus 48 to replace an Exped Lightening 45 (which I also highly recommend) for longer hikes. Like you, I found the Bonfus hip belt pockets too small and got larger ones from Treadlite Gear UK which are around the same price, a good bit larger, and extremely well made.
@StripeyHatGuyАй бұрын
@@crivensjings thanks! Yeah bonfus is underrated imo. I wasn’t sure with the ultra material but so far no signs of wear and tear. Couldn’t be happier with the pack. Said this in summer I used a second hand zpacks Nero (robic version, got it for 42 pounds) and really like it for the warmer season, couldn’t find the Iterus 38 at this time anywhere near this price point which is sad for me but a good sign for bonfus 😅

Hmm. I was at Carron 6 months ago. I've been to over 100 bothies, and I've always found that Carron is the hardest to get to; you came in the easiest way, but I have to confess that I once got lost on that route. It is interesting that army engineers were involved in the renovation of that bothy and even they had problems.... in the comments there are references to the walk in from Loch Fyne (3 routes) Well, one goes through the "hidden realm" (bothy book) which is a 2 mile section of so called path through the forest which is more swamp than path: it connects to a forestry track but is very difficult to find if coming to the bothy. Or there is the direct route, which is navigationally challenging. I've never tried the Southern route; but even the first half mile from the bothy is like SAS selection! 😢
