Giving this a shot now. Got an A3S free so the price was perfect. Couldn't get it to tune very well on 15 meters so I'm hoping cleaning the traps on the DE will fix that. First time ever taking traps apart, thanks for a detailed video. Glad it's 80 and not 30 when I'm doing it to!

When you dimple or punch something to keep it from rotating or moving...it's called "staking"

Been looking for this one !! Are the trap ends with the screws on the inboard end or the outboard end ? The labels are worn off of mine !

i dont think it matters what orientation they go on,i think on mine they are pointed away from the boom.its basiclly a coil in the middle of a tube so i dont think it matters what end goes first.

It is important to oriented the trap correctly, so the screw on the capacitor tube must be towards the side of the boom, otherwise the trap will not resonate correctly! In addition, the external side of the aluminum capacitor tube, the Teflon isolator ring and its rubber protection must be kept well clean in order to avoid high voltage RF discharges between trap and element, especially if you use high powers! This is valid for all A4S traps. 73 de ik8uif
