Cushing's Disease in Pets

I'm so sorry. I know what you are going through, my poodle Baby, has Cushing's. She hasn't been officially diagnosed yet but hopefully this week so that we can start her on a medication. We've had her for 11 years now but that is not her real age. We were blessed to find a beautiful white full blooded poodle at a small rescue and they though she was about 2 years old. So she's a senior citizen. I want to start her on a natural medication and not the one that is actually chemotherapy. My prayers are with you and all of us whose pets develop this disease.

Hi girlie. Poor Boy. Hope some take him and gives him a good life. I have a soft spot for animals.

He did have a good life, his mom or dad took great care of him but couldn't afford the expensive Cushing's treatment. We have all been there. I have a soft spot too. Thanks Guy

That's the sad part...good owners that can't afford the treatment have to forfeit their pets to get them the care so badly needed. They should be able to reclaim them after treatment, or at the very least, be #1 on the list.

Our Jake has been losing hair, sluggish, loss of strength in his back legs. The doctor says Autoimmune. Cushings sounds like what is happening. Other than he is not over weight. I will ask his vet. Although he is 19 yrs old. She has them on Prednisone 1 week out of every month. 1/2 pill every other day.

19? Holy Cow!!! Good job. There are tests they can do to determine. Just got word back that Loki's levels are so improved, but they are pretty sure the hair and muscle loss won't return. :( We do what we can to maintain what he has left in both areas. Thank you. :) Jake isn't the oldest. He's second runner up. Lucia will be 20 next month. The oldest dog we had was Gidget. A red Pomeranian. She passed at 22.

I have had FELV cats live 7 to 8 yrs after diagnosis. Felicity was 15 when she passed. I haven't got a hang of the camera and editing thing yet. I've been wanting to do more but I am still learning the editing. My daughter does YT and is helping me so she doesn't have to edit both mine and hers. I'm a prepper and homesteader and very busy. Lots of canning to do and other things. Ferdinand our cow amazed the vet when he is alive 4 yrs later from Bovine disease and severe Pin Eye. He was a complete mess as a new born dumped in my yard. The big animals are all my daughter she is Ellie May Clampett on steroids. lol

I have a chiuwawa that is between 8&10 yrs she rarely eats or drinks and when she does its fed to her. what can I do to help her? it maybe because the ppl that had her left her alone a lot..idk..please advise?

one thing you could try is moist food that she will eat, that way she is getting some water

ok i will try again..according to the ppl that had her she never eats.. i had her three days and she did not eat or drink more than a bite of roasted chicken and a sip of water..its a shame ppl dont learn to take care of animals and keep them for a darn decade and then give them away. not eating is a big sign something is wrong..its funny your child don't eat you take them to a dr not assume that they just don't eat..uggh well she will get lots of love and attention with me..its funny just gotta get my spoiled jack Russell to get used to having a sister..lol
