Teaching & Medicine are called 'noble professions' because they are meant for the benefit of humanity. That's why both are above and beyond the bounds of religions, politics and geography. Both noble virtues are combined in "Medical Teachers" like Dr Bhatia. We must respect and Salute them. Sir, I am not only from Pakistan but have the honor of being a doctor in military uniform for over 15 years. I liked your lectures and keep learning from them. My most sincere appreciations, respect and well wishes for you and your family.

boss .. to differentiate between psedocuhsing and cushing syndrome you do LDDST which is 0.5 mg QID for 2 days .. not as u mentioned 1 mg overnight dexamethasone suppression
@einzelganger27386 жыл бұрын
OOMEDICINEOO10 Ihsan yes i think he mixed up overnight dexamethasone suppersion test( 1mg at 11pm and and blood plasma test at 8 am) with low dose(0.5mg qid)

There are two different types of dexamethasone suppression tests: the low-dose test and the high-dose test. Each type can either be done in an overnight or standard (3-day) way. For the low-dose overnight method, 1 mg of dexamethasone is given at 11 p.m., and the blood is drawn at 8 a.m. for a cortisol measurement (see venipuncture). In the standard low-dose method, urine is collected 3 days (stored in 24-hour collection containers) for measurement of cortisol. On day 2, a low dose (0.5 mg) of dexamethasone is given by mouth every 6 hours for 48 hours. For the high-dose overnight method, a baseline cortisol is measured on the morning of the test, then 8 mg of dexamethasone is given at 11 p.m. Blood is drawn at 8 a.m. for a cortisol measurement. For the standard high-dose test, urine is collected over 3 days (stored in 24-hour collection containers) for measurement of cortisol. On day 2, a high dose (2 mg) of dexamethasone is given by mouth every 6 hours for 48 hours.

Hi I have a question regarding a health condition. What would you interpret if ACTH test done in the morning is high but the cortisol level is in the normal range. What test should be done next? What disorder could it be signaling?
