The cushion cut has consistently been one of our most popular center stone shapes chosen by our clients for decades. The cushion cut is perhaps one of the most intricate of all diamond shapes. From cutting style to ratio, there are several variations of this cut and narrowing down which is for you is crucial when designing your dream LB ring!
Cut
Like all fancy shapes (which are all non-round cut diamonds), the GIA grading report will not specify the actual cut grade of the diamond, so this makes choosing the right one for your engagement ring that much harder. There are a variety of different cushions and we focus on the cushion brilliant and antique cushions while avoiding the 'crushed ice' ones
Ratio
As with most fancy shape (non-round cut) diamonds, cushion cut diamonds can be fashioned in a variety of length to width ratios. . As a general rule, any cushion with a ratio of 1:1 to 1.05:1 would be considered square, while anything from 1.1:1 and above would be elongated. When considering elongated cushions, there are several different degrees of elongation. A stone with a 1.1 ratio looks slightly elongated and pillow-like, while a diamond with a 1.2 ratio or higher looks more rectangular.
